After a long day of travelling, last night I happily landed in San Francisco with a big weekend ahead. Last year, this was a very busy week and weekend for me, so it’s kind of become a joke that SFM week is the busiest of the year. When I found out I was leaving the country the week leading up to it this year, I just had to laugh. The race definitely worth it, but I am very glad I am running a fun half marathon tomorrow and not the full!
I drove straight to the Ambassador dinner and was really excited to see some old friends and meet new ones too. We have quite the crew this year with over 30 Ambassadors from all over the country! It’s always fun to get a bunch of runners in the same room together.
After a very fun evening, I made it back home with enough time to set out my clothes for the next day’s festivities and get some much needed sleep.
This morning I headed back to San Francisco to attend the lululemon shake out run, but got a few solo miles in first. This weekend my goal was to get in back to back double digit runs since my NF50 training starts very soon, and I was happily able to get 10 done this morning. Having a whole group of running friends definitely made this easier.
I was really excited to meet Holly who was here all the way from Texas! Add that to the list of cross country connections made this week… I love it.
After the shakeout run we made a very necessary coffee stop, then hit up the expo. I was able to see even more friends and run into some new ones as well. The running buzz was definitely alive at the expo and is so infectious.
I am so excited to be a part of the San Francisco marathon for the 5th year in a row tomorrow! From my first marathon in 2008, to my 11th marathon last year, and some great half marathons in between, it’s always a great day. This year I am running the first half with a bunch of friends and I know it will be another amazing day. I cannot wait. Hope to see a ton of you out there too!
