HALF WAY!
This was a pretty awesome week with a couple huge milestones crossed. It’s definitely a week I am happy with!
I came off of a cutback week last week raring to run. I finished off January just barely short of my highest mileage month ever, but kept my eyes ahead to what I had planned this week.
Monday
rest
Tuesday
11 mile run
I met up with the morning crew very early for a Tuesday run for a change. We set out for 8 miles and got them done, and I was feeling good, so decided to make Tuesday my medium long day instead of Wednesday and added another 3 miles on.
11.0 miles/1:41:58/9:16 avg pace
Wednesday
8 mile run
I met up with Sima for another very early run and the last run in her 20s!
8.4 miles/1:18:56/9:23 avg pace
Thursday Double day 7 mile run
I had a great run with my work friends, finishing up at coffee, which is always the best. My schedule called for another few miles that night, but I was moving my long runs to Friday/Saturday this week, so I skipped the second run (surprise, surprise).
7.3 miles/1:05:40/9:02 avg pace
Friday
24 mile combo long run
My longest training run ever! A combo of road and trail and this run left me pretty wiped. I went through a lot of emotions, but overcame the tough spots and finished up strong.
24.0 miles/3:58:39/9:56 avg pace
Saturday
18 mile trail long run
The magic run where my legs somehow showed up feeling great and I had a fantastic trail run in the magic hills with Jojo. My legs and body keep surprising me, and this was one of those days.
18.0 miles/3:32:45/11:49 avg pace (3100+ feet elevation gain)
Sunday
6 mile run
Since I didn’t do my short run Friday and ran long instead, I moved it to Sunday. My legs were pretty tired when I started and I told myself to go EASY. I did not want to see an average pace lower than 9:45. I ran a very flat route too and just cruised along.
I took my compression socks out for their first run too (full socks vs. sleeves)! I have been wanting to run in them for a while, but since my feet can be picky about socks I wanted to test them on a short run. I liked them very much and will definitely be wearing them again!
My legs felt better as I went and I added on an extra .33 miles to round out the week. Yes I knew this ahead of time of course.
6.3 miles/1:02:06/9:48 avg pace
Total miles for the week: 75.0!!
That my friends is a new weekly mileage PR. My previous weekly mileage high was 70.1 from November 2010 and I remember feeling very beat up at the end of that week. This week is the total opposite, I feel pretty awesome right now (knock on wood) and am looking forward to another big week ahead – including a trail marathon on Saturday! I have a feeling that the new weekly PR won’t last as long as the last one did.
9 weeks to go!

Badass! So awesome!
I know how you feel about your legs/body surprising you. It’s an incredible feeling when your training and discipline starts to pay off and you can FEEL it. Good for you. And congrats on the weekly PR!
GET IT GIRL! So proud of you and love following this journey of yours.
What a great week! That 24/18 back to back combo seems down right super human.
