Continuing from where we left off.
Page had convinced me to sign up for a Santa 5k on Saturday morning. I knew little about the event but it sounded fun, plus I heard we got Santa suits with our race registration.
This was definitely a true story.
We woke up, crawled out of bed into our running clothes and ran the 4 miles to the start line. The rest of the “race” will be in a separate race report post coming soon (since it clearly deserves it’s own post) but here is a sneak preview.
We eventually found our way back to the hotel thanks to Las Vegas public transportation and finally made it over to the expo! I am not the biggest fan of expos, especially huge ones where I tend to get claustrophobic and overwhelmed, but this one was very organized and not insanely-can’t-move-crowded like I expected from going at the peak of the day.
We got our bibs, walked around, and I found some sparkly arm warmers to liven up my race outfit.
It’s official: half marathon #22 is happening and it’s my first ever race at night!
I hurried off to my Team Refuel filming at the Bellagio, then off to another blogger meet up!
Another pic borrowed from Janae
I finally showered and put on real clothes (and even impressed Emily with my delay in shower taking for the day) and headed to dinner with Page. We had delicious Mexican food and margaritas. It is to be determined if this is the best thing to be doing the day before a race, which would continue to be the theme for the rest of the night.
After dinner, we found XLMIC and Beth and headed over to yet another blogger meet up, but this one wasn’t your standard running blogger meet up. Somehow we turned this into a multiple hour dance party and which has definitely been the highlight of the weekend so far.
I probably wouldn’t recommend this the night before a race, but it is Vegas after all.
We really wanted to stay up as late as we could, so we could sleep in as late as we could, but this wasn’t as successful as we hoped. We picked up some late night snacks to help in this process, but we didn’t make it past 1:30am, which actually is very late for us California girls.
Now it’s race day. Page and I are catching up with our social media and trying to figure out this whole eating for a night race thing. It’s going to be a little tricky, but I know it’s going to be a blast.
I must admit though, I am currently very jealous of my mimosa drinking spectating roommates.
Only a couple more hours to go now… See you at the finish line Vegas!
