Now that I got that little announcement off my chest, I can go back and recap last week just a few days late.
Bare fridge with no training plan!
I pretty much threw my training plan out the window during my funemployment. It was too daunting and I just didn’t want to do what it said. I had really considered making my Portland decision then and there, but I decided to wait and just see how the week went. I think mixing up last week and not looking at my training plan confirmed what I needed to do.
I definitely took advantage of my time off. I worked out a ton, mixed up my workouts, caught up with friends and just had a lot of fun… it went by so fast!
Monday
45 min spin
Hopped on the spin bike with my shadow not far away.
run club taking over downtown Walnut Creek!
Tuesday
am: 5 GA
pm: 8 GA
After my motivation post, I went out and ran 5 miles just because I wanted to. It was hot but I was happy and just ran around my neighborhood at whatever pace my legs wanted.

I had team lemon run club later that day and Alisyn said she was making the trek up to Walnut Creek. I met up with her before hand and ran 5 miles and then we did 3 miles with the group as part of the Walnut Festival Run registration party. This night was huge. Our biggest run club yet with almost 60 people!! I slept very good that night after over 13 miles for the day.

Wednesday
am: 6 easy
pm: 5 trails
Another double day! I ran an easy 6 miles in the morning and then stopped at the trails on my way home from Marin just because I wanted to. It was definitely a good decision.
6.2 miles/55:53/9:05 avg pace
5.0 miles/48:58/9:47 avg pace
Thursday
10 mile hike
My first hike up to Mission Peak with JoLynn!
Friday
7 easy
We made the drive down to my parents house the night before, so I was excited to run in a new location! I was super sore from my hike the day before so I took it pretty easy on my run. My muscles felt much better after.
7.0 miles/1:03:49/9:07 avg pace
Saturday
16 long
This is pretty much when I decided I wasn’t going to run Portland. My plan said 20 miles and there was no part of me that wanted to run that far. I ran 2 miles to meet my friend Jessica and planned on running 16 with her, then 2 back. Somehow I tricked her into running by my parent’s house right around when I was at 16 and that was it for me. No 20 miler! I didn’t feel bad about it at all either, I was happy to be done and knew that I really wasn’t in marathon training mode anymore.
16.2 miles/2:34:34/9:24 avg pace
Sunday
19 mile bike
Speedy bike ride with Chris!
19.3 miles/1:00:45/19.1 mph
Totals for the week
Running: 47.5 miles
Spinning: 45 minutes
Cycling: 19 miles
Hiking: 10 miles
Not a bad week if you ask me! I definitely figured out what was dragging my running down and made some shifts to make it better. I already feel like a new person.

I LOVE how much you mixed it up last week. Now THAT sounds like fun to me!!
Sounds like you are a lot happier! That’s great! And look at all those fun workouts
GORGEOUS running/walking/hiking trail! Love it! Great workouts…I’ve been mixing it up a lot lately as well! Have an awesome Thursday!
sounds like you made the right decision about the marathon…there’s a lot to be said about making a call like that. we’d all rather see you be happy and smart with your training then doing something you weren’t into.
Girl, even without a plan you are rocking it! What a great week!!!
Your post today definitely sounds a lot less tense and worried than your previous ones. Running is much more fun when you don’t feel like you have to do it.
I miss hiking!
Sounds like it was a good week! I like the approach of tossing away the training plan, I would just do what seems fun, and I bet you running mojo will return soon. Just go with the flow, and your body will tell you what it wants to do next or what race it wants to do!
holy crap, this is a big week! i’m glad you are still feeling good about your decision.
What a fabulous week! Thank you again for running extra with me! I had so much fun running with you and then with the Lemon run Club thereafter! Looking forward to seeing you on Sunday!
WHen it stops being fun, it’s time to do something different. Nothing wrong with that!
Such a fun week with lots of cool activities! Glad you enjoyed your funemployment & made some smart decisions!
