In keeping with the theme of my funemployment, which was wanting to do things I haven’t done before, Chris and I decided to head up Mt. Diablo Monday morning for my last hurrah before becoming a working person again.
I stare at this mountain all the time and have always wanted to go running there. There are endless miles of trails to run on and even though it’s essentially in my backyard I have sadly never been there.
Until yesterday!
We drove over to the bottom of the mountain, figured out a place to start and went running! We were on a bigger fire road at first but then found some fun single track trails to run on. It was hot, it was hilly, but it was so fun.
We climbed up pretty high and were rewarded with some amazing views. We weren’t really sure where we were going but we just had fun running whichever way we wanted to go. We just had to trust our instincts on which turns to take, and they served us right.
6 miles later and over 1100 feet of elevation gained, we were back at the car. I had so much fun running around the mountain and I can’t wait to go up there again!

So pretty! You are lucky to have such spectacular things so close to you! I love nyc but really am considering moving to california!!
Beauty!! Sounds like a great way to spend your last day of “funemployment”!
Outstanding scenery! Good job getting in such a fun run. And good luck starting the new job tomorrow!
sounds like you are having a blast! gorgeous views, I want to come climb!
I’ve always wanted to go running there too! You make it sound like so much fun. It’s funny how close to live to these things and never actually go out and experience them!
