Good bye August, hello September!
I am very happy to say goodbye to August because when I think of August I think of the word hot. I do have mixed emotions about September though. Although I love it because it means we are that much closer to my most favorite months of the year (November through March!), it also always seems to be one of the warmest months in the Bay Area when it’s supposed to be fall which is meh.
But back to August.
I seriously don’t remember what happened this month. It really seems like yesterday that I ran the San Francisco Marathon, and if not yesterday maybe a week, definitely not a whole month!
So what did I do all month?
I spent the first part of the month recovering from SFM, which took more time that I had thought/hoped, but that’s a-ok! I was a good runner and listened to my body and took it easy for a few weeks.
I had so much fun spectating the Pleasanton Fast and Furious race and can’t wait for next year! It was the first cycling race I had ever been to, plus it was overall just a very fun day.
I went to Half Moon Bay for the first time and LOVED it. I am still dying to go back and run there again. Hopefully very soon.
I took my bike out for the first time in forever. I should probably do that again soon.
I admitted to losing my training motivation and spark for Portland and am determined to find it!
Which all concluded in 175.3 miles for the month. It’s definitely one of my lower months of the year, but not the lowest. Overall I am happy with the volume considering I was recovering from a marathon for the first week or two!
That puts me at 1650.7 miles for 2011 so far, which is 220 miles ahead of where I was in August last year. Not bad.
How was your August? Are you a fan of September?
