I have had a couple awesome runs this week (which I will talk about later in my weekly recap), but ended up digging myself into a little hole of tiredness after 2 hard workouts and a double. Hmm – who knew? Looking back I definitely know better and need to make sure to plan better next time. I ended up taking an extra rest day on Friday to let my body recover from all this hard work I have been putting it through and felt it’s benefit’s today!
The Bay Area is having another heat wave so when I was invited to run in cool San Francisco with some of my favorite runner girls I jumped on the chance. 95 and sun in the East Bay or upper 50s and foggy in the city? City for the win! I am so lucky to be able to drive over to San Francisco on the weekends for long runs and escape some of the summer time heat.
I left my house at 6am to pick up Kristin and the thermometer already was saying 70 degrees so we were both very happy to be leaving. As we made our way to the other side of San Francisco, the fog appeared and I was SO HAPPY! I love love love the fog.
We made it to SF by 7am and met up with Alyssa, Katie and Megan!
Megan, Katie, Alyssa, Kristin and me!
This week Alyssa mapped us out a 16 mile route that went into Golden Gate Park, dropped us onto the Great Highway, took us around Lake Merced, and brought us back to the start point.
After warming up for a mile, we picked it up and settled into a nice pace and cruised along chatting lots and enjoying each other’s company. I can’t stress enough how NICE it is to find running partners that you match with. It makes runs so much better!
The miles kept ticking off and I was feeling pretty good, but got tired once we got back into Golden Gate Park and had a good mile+ climb. We kept on going of course and finished the run very strong! I was so happy to have another great long run on the books.
16.15/2:19:39/8:38 avg pace
After we refueled with coffee and bagels and lots of chatting. Can’t ask for a much better start to a 3 day weekend if you ask me!
Hope you’re having a great weekend!

That’s a swift pace. Sounds like a perfect run with friends!
Wow- I need to find a place close by that is cool and foggy when it is hot and nasty here! Sounds like perfect weather for that long run!
Sounds. Like. Heaven.
Awesome job.
Awesome run.
Have an awesome weekend!!
You’re so lucky to have running friends!!! And can I tell you how jealous I am with that pace you’re doing for a long run? In fact, if I can even do that for one mile, I’ll be stoked!!!
This morning was so fun!!! I really do think you guys needs to move here.
What a great run!!!
Yay! Another SF Bay Area blogger and runner! Just found your blog and loving it already!
I would take city fog over 95 degrees any day. Coffee and a bagel is my favorite post run meal!
Wow you’re seeing temps on the 50s? Crazy.
You can’t beat great running temps and great running friends!! (nice pace too!)
i love it! sounds like you had a wonderful and cool day of running with great ladies.
