I had a great week! I ran every morning I wanted to, got all my planned runs in AND was gone pretty much the entire weekend for Page’s wedding! It was a busy week to say the least, but one that I definitely feel good about.
I planned on keeping my mileage pretty much the same as last week, which is more than I typically do the week before a marathon, but that was on purpose since I am using SFM as a training run for PDX.
Monday
rest
Tuesday
am: 8 with 4 tempo
pm: 5 easy
Tuesday morning I got up, gave myself a pep talk and went on to have my fastest tempo run ever I think! It was a great run and set the week off on a good foot.
8.0 miles/1:05:43/8:12 avg pace
4 tempo miles @ 7:30 avg
Then I went to run club that night for an easy 5 miler.
5.0 miles/45:45/9:09 avg pace
Wednesday
10 progression
I got up early and got had another great run. I kept the first 5 easy @ 8:59, then picked up the pace for the last 5 @ 8:12.
10.0 miles/1:26:02/8:36 avg pace
Thursday
6 easy
I met up with my friend Lauren early and we got the miles in. My legs were SO tight at the start of this run, but felt much better by the end… just like a recovery run should be!
6.0 miles/54:35/9:05 avg pace
Friday
13 long
Since I was going out of town early Saturday morning for Page’s wedding, I wanted to get in my long run for the week Friday. I planned on doing 14-15 originally, but decided that 13 was just enough for the day. I ran with Kristin and Lauren and we had another great run!
13.0 miles/1:55:36/8:53 avg pace
Saturday
5 easy
I got up and got a quick run in before heading to Reno with Kristin for the wedding!
5.0 miles/45:26/9:05 avg pace
We had SO MUCH FUN and Page was a gorgeous bride. I am so happy I was able to be a part of her big day! I will let her fill you in on the details first, but I will say I ended up in the black dress!
Sunday
rest
There was definitely no time or energy for running after a late night of dancing, drinking and shenanigans. Plus we hit so much traffic on our way back from Reno, that it took almost twice as long to get home as it did for us to get there! Needless to say, I am wiped out from another great weekend.
Totals for Week 11: 47.0 miles
This week I will cut back my volume quite a bit since the marathon is on Sunday! I will probably run more than my typical pre-race week, but still make sure not to do too much.
{Less than} 1 week until SFM and 11 weeks until PDX!

Great week! You rocked the running, and everything else! I really hope I get to do San francisco someday – it’s on my list of “comeback” marathons.
Glad you had such a great week and hit all of your runs despite travelling for the wedding!
Woohoo! Almost there… I love being able to fit in runs even when things are hectic because it makes me feel a little more sane when I can get my run in.
great job on your training!
i would have picked the black dress myself!! glad you had fun!!
rest up this week, even a marathon as a training run is a hard day.
Ooh I am jealous of everything you fitted in – and you’re SO fast again! Well done girlfriend!
A few last minute questions.. Insight for preference of Gu with caffeine or not? Running with H2O for full marathon or just water stations? Since your using SF as a training run, what time and pace are you trying to maintain? Thanks
Great week! Way to get it all in and enjoy the wedding. I’ll be watching the SFM stuff this weekend as my friend is running the half. Good luck!
AWESOME that you hit all your runs this week, even with the weekend away! You & K looked great!!
