My legs still aren’t feeling that fantastic, but that’s to be expected. I keep reminding myself I did 2 marathons in 13 days (and hard marathons!), then started back into training pretty quick after a week off. It does get a little frustrating when your legs feel like lead constantly, but I know I just have to be patient, it will come. This isn’t my A race of the year anyways, so I just need to take it slow and get back into training mode.
I was able to pick up the pace a bit on a couple runs and increase my long run by quite a bit too! So overall it was a good week that I am happy with.
Monday
6 easy
Quick run after work before I met with the team for Walnut Festival Run plans! I had planned on keeping the pace easy but picked it up the last 2 miles to bring my average pace down a little.

After we had a successful meeting going over stuff for the race. Remember bay area runners – mark your calendars for the Walnut Festival Run on September 11th!
Tuesday
9 easy
My standard team lemon run club night! I ran just over 3 miles before meeting with the group, then did 5 with the group and finished the rest on my own to get 9. Loved chatting with my friends!
I crossed the 50 mile mark for team lemon also, so I got my new Sigg water bottle! Sigg bottles are definitely one of my favorites and I love being able to add another one to my collection.

The much needed rest day.
Friday
8 GA
Friday I got off work early since it was before a holiday weekend and I made the most of it by hitting the pavement. After the bad day on Thursday I hoped I would have a good run and I did. It still wasn’t the best, but I felt a lot better and was happy to be out there. I wanted to push the pace a little bit since I haven’t really had many speedy runs since Big Sur. This was far from speedy but just am trying to remind the legs what it’s like to run a little faster.
Plus I got to see lots of ducks in the canal and that always makes me happy! The baby ducks are growing up so fast.

Saturday
16 long
I had planned on moving my long run to Sunday this week but couldn’t pass up the invite from Alyssa so I joined the girls and passed 1,000 miles for the year the best way I know how. Perfect day, great friends, amazing city – can’t ask for much more!
It wasn’t an easy 16 miles either!

Sunday
5 easy
My legs were not excited to be running, but I took advantage of my morning and went on an easy recovery run in Danville before I picked up my See Jane Run race packet for next weekend. My first mile or 2 were terrible, but by the end I started to feel better, just like I always do. Recovery run success!
Total for the week: 48.1 miles
Next week is more of the same with building up some mileage (especially the mid week runs), then I have See Jane Run half marathon next weekend! It should be a good week and hopefully my legs will start showing up one of these days. Patience is my mantra at the moment.
9 weeks to go!

I love reading your training logs. I’ve just started a long training plan for my first marathon, the Nike Women’s Marathon, and its just great to read how other people’s training goes. I’ve run two half marathons, and I’m really excited now about training for the full!
Thanks again for your blogging– it keeps me motivated!
SO EXCITING!! Congrats on taking the full plunge
I love reading about your training too. I’m in awe of that elevation chart. I have to search for hills to run in flat Dallas, TX. Ashley, I’m doing the NWM (half), can’t wait!
Good luck on the marathon, I will only be doing the (1st) Half..
Wow look how much u did this week! It is reAlly significantM
Nice job on the weekly mileage! Your 16 mile long run looks bad-ass. Happy Memorial Day weekend
Looks like a good week! I hear you on needing to be patient! I feel sluggish and slow…. the heat and humidity have arrived, so I know that is a factor too.
Hope you feel more “normal” this week!
Hi Aron,
Love your blog! I’m moving to the East Bay in about 3 weeks. Do you know if it’s possible for me to join a SFM training group for just the last 6 weeks? I’m looking for a long-run pace of 9:15 – 9:30.
Thanks!
Lindsey
I will email and check around – feel free to email me too if I dont get back to you soon enough
