Seven Hundred

Wow here we are at post SEVEN HUNDRED!

May 736a

Seriously how did I get here?  It seems like just yesterday I started this little blog to keep my family up to date on the crazy marathon thing I decided to sign up for.  Who knew that I would still be here, 10 marathons later, 700 posts later, more in love with running and more addicted to blogging than ever!

I always like to do something big for my “milestone” posts.  Sometimes it’s fun random facts about me, one time it was a video of all the bloggers I had met at the time.  Whatever it is I always take the time to recognize these big posts because I like to!

Past milestone posts:
One hundred
Two hundred
Three hundred
Four hundred
Five hundred
Six hundred

Today’s milestone post is a big fat THANK YOU.

Yes thank YOU for supporting me, for giving me advice, for cheering me on, for being my friends and just for reading my rambles.  I love running, I love to write about how much I love running, so this blog just comes naturally to me.

I love being able to dump my mind, vent about my frustrations, celebrate my accomplishments and just know I am not alone.  I love all the friends I have made and continue to make, and I LOVE hearing your stories in return.

So here is just a tiny way I can say thank you, to one of you at least!

There is currently a box sitting in my running room and it’s partially filled with some of my favorite running products.  As this week goes on, I will continue to add to it until it’s completely filled, and I am giving it away to one of you!  It will be a surprise for the winner on what the box will be full of, but I promise it will be worth the win and will be FULL of some of my favorite running products.  I might give some hints during the week as well.

Who doesn’t want a surprise box full of running stuff?!  I love surprises!

What’s in there?

May 718 May 721

One of you will win… all you have to do is enter and there are many way to enter.

The giveaway will be open until next Tuesday, May 31st at midnight California time and I will announce the winner Wednesday, June 1st.

***Some of these products I will donate myself, some I received through being an Ambassador for the San Francisco Marathon and some are from Outside PR company.  I will disclose it all when I announce the winner and what the surprise box is full of!

typically don’t love surprises…too much of a control freak! But, cliched as it may be, my husbands proposal was an amazing sort-of surprise. I knew he was gonna propose but didn’t know when/how, and the surprise was awesome!

  2. Kelsey May 24, 2011 at 10:31 am #

I hate surprises! I am a bit of a control freak and have a crazy need to always know what’s going on, what the plan is etc etc.

I love reading your blog and can’t wait to read the next 700 posts!

  3. Kristen May 24, 2011 at 10:31 am #

I love surprises when it comes to gifts, I hate surprises when it comes to being startled or physically surprised- it freaks me out!
(i’m already a facebook fan but will pay attention!)

Do you feel like Oprah? Giving away some favourite things?

  4. Kelsey May 24, 2011 at 10:31 am #

I already liked you on facebook too!

    how fun!
    I love surprises!!!
the best one for me. When I was still living in Quebec, my husband-boyfriend at the time- who was living here in California surprised me at work on Valentine’s day. He had arranged for my borther who he had never met to pick him up and drive him to my office. He arranged with my boss who he also did not know for me to have a couple days off for his visit. He showed up with roses at lunch time! like a prince charming!

I love surprises! Congratulations on your 700th post! Unfortunately I also am really impatient so half the time I ruin the surprise by asking a bazillion questions!

Congrats on 700! That’s a lot of posts. :) I only like good surprises, like presents or visitors.

    Hi Aron,

I like surprises and I love your blog. I still cannot believe I read every single entry in less than a month. Like a book. I already like you on facebook. I still haven’t converted to twitter though…

YAY! I love surprises. I mostly love surprising other people- I recently surprised a friend by showing up for her birthday after telling her there was no way I could possibly make it! Look on her face – priceless!

  15. Anna May 24, 2011 at 10:39 am #

I like surprises! I think my favorite surprise was one year for my birthday my husband took the day off work (I didn’t know he did), and baked me a “rubiks cube” cake. It was perfectly square and he made the sides different colors with lines between the boxes. It was so nifty!

  16. Jen May 24, 2011 at 10:39 am #

I am also a “liker” of runnersrambles on FB! woot!

I do like surprises, they’re fun! Especially when it comes to presents.

  20. Amber from Girl with the Red Hair May 24, 2011 at 10:43 am #

I have a love/hate relationship with surprises. Sometimes I love them but other times I hate them – especially if they mess with plans. Last summer my mom surprised me with a weekend visit and it was SO GREAT to see her but I also had to totally rework my plans for the weekend, which wasn’t quite as fun :P

I can’t wait to see what’s in your surprise box!!

  21. Katherine May 24, 2011 at 10:43 am #

I’m not a fan of bad-news surprises, like getting to my car after work to find out someone has left a scratch on my door or hit my bumper. I am, however, a HUGE fan of surprises that include carbs, travel, flowers, kitchen stuff, and of course running toys and apparel! My mom always sends me a surprise item (running shorts, a new shirt, etc.) before a race. And my sweet boyfriend always surprises me with flowers on Valentine’s Day, which I love. Those are great surprises!

For the record, I sent my +1 tweet (@katherinemccoy) and liked you on FB! Keep the great posts coming. I’ve loved reading your story over the past few years.

I loooove surprises! My story: One year some distant family members asked us to write a Christmas list. I gave some ideas and then ended my list with “but i love surprises!” That year, we got boxes upon boxes of goodies! It was great! (and such a surprise!)

  27. Megan May 24, 2011 at 10:46 am #

I do like surprises, but I like surprising others more! I tried to throw my husband a surprise party for his 30th birthday last year, but my MIL sent out an email to everyone in the family about it, including him! Needless to say, he knew what was going on after that.

  28. amie May 24, 2011 at 10:46 am #

to be honest, i dont really like surprises. i like GIVING surprises, but getting is harder. i think im too Type A for them! my best surprise was the birthday present my husband gave me last year, a brand new point and shoot i had been lusting over forever!

Happy 700th post!!! I still remember when I first started lurking on your site, you def inspired me to run and blog. Thank you for being you and sharing your adventures!!!

Now on to surprises… I LOVE them. Like 500% love! As in when Spike asked me if I would want to go pick out *the ring* I said absolutely not. I want it to be a surprise (and he has excellent taste so I’m not worried it’ll be ugly. LOL! P.S. Obviously I haven’t had that surprise yet…) My friends know how much I love surprises too and for my 25th birthday they all showed up at my friends condo and we had a HUGE girl’s night out. They also put together the most amazing scrapbook for me when I moved to Michigan that I still tear up when I read. Spike, obviously knowing my love of surprises, used to go over the top with surprises when we first started dating. Shortly after I left MI the first time he sent me a box full of leaves (it was the Fall) so I could have my very own Fall in FL. It was awesome and I kept a few for keepsakes. Another time he contracted a personal assistant service to go to 7-11 and buy me cookies and deliver them to my work after I PR’d a race because he knows how much I love cookies. LOL! So yeah, I love surprises and right now I could really use an awesome surprise to cheer me up with all this boot nonsense.

  39. Sarah May 24, 2011 at 10:58 am #

I love surprises! My best friend Jill and I send packages in the mail to each other a few times each year–love it!
I “like” your facebook page already and enjoy reading your blog. :)

  40. Melissa May 24, 2011 at 11:01 am #

I like surprises in theory but I am both a planner by profession and nature so it’s really hard for someone to actually surprise me b/c I’ve usually asked too many questions or put parameters on things to leave very little room for option/error.

However, Matt surprised me with a really nice piece of jewelry on a Vegas trip a couple of years ago. I had been lusting after this ring for months and was planning to buy it for myself eventually. Then I came back from a spa day to find a David Yurman package wrapped on the side table with a sweet note and instructions to get ready to meet for a nice dinner. So while I knew WHAT the jewelry was I was not expecting this AT ALL!

  41. Jess May 24, 2011 at 11:01 am #

I love surprises. Haven’t had one in a while. Best one ever – my husband and I met and started dating in college, and were long distance for two years after graduation (I was teaching in Memphis in a 2 year program, he moved home to Anchorage, AK…LOOONG distance.) Not long after I moved to Memphis, I drove home one Friday afternoon in September, completely frustrated in the way that only first year teachers can be. Walked into the house, talking to one of my housemates – and almost passed out when my boyfriend (now hubby) was sitting in our living room! It was our one year anniversary (of dating) and he didn’t want us to be apart for that.

I wasn’t expecting to see him until Christmas at the earliest – so this was a huge (and wonderful) surprise.

Oh, and I like you on FB! Going to go tweet now as well (@jfriesgaither)

  42. Stacy M May 24, 2011 at 11:02 am #

I actually love surprises, but am rarely surprised. I used to peek at presents before Christmas, so there was no surprise there. Now, my husband wants my help picking out my presents. Still, no surprise.

So, a running related surprise would be great fun as I get ready for the San Francisco Marathon (running the 1/2)!

  43. Robin May 24, 2011 at 11:02 am #

I hate surprises. I ruin any chance of surprises as they make me anxious.

  45. Laura May 24, 2011 at 11:10 am #

I am not a surprise person at.all. I like to know what is going on and have some control. I can roll with the punches…but don’t really want to.
I had to tell my hubs that he needed to hide Christmas gifts better from me ….. as I always look for them Sad…I know…..

  46. Heather May 24, 2011 at 11:12 am #

I LOVE suprises, probably because I never get any. :) I just found your blog a few days ago and i’m hooked. Thanks for all the good advice, can’t wait to read more.

Now i’m on my way over to LIKE you on facebook.

  47. Daniella @ Runner at Heart May 24, 2011 at 11:12 am #

I have a love/hate relationship with surprises. I usually seem to find out about a suprise so then I am dissapointed and makes the suprise less exciting. I love it though when I am truly suprised no matter how big or small the surprise is.

    Congrats on your 700th post!

  48. Jessica B. May 24, 2011 at 11:16 am #

Congrats on number 700, thats a huge milestone! I love surprises and am on the edge of my seat to find out what is in that box. It’s so exciting! I was surprised with a Garmin for my bday a couple years ago, it was so totally unexpected and I had wanted one so bad that I cried. Yes I cried over a silly runners watch, my bf thought something was wrong and I didn’t like it or something. He still doesn’t get why I cried over it.

  49. Kelley May 24, 2011 at 11:17 am #

I’m not always a big fan of surprises, but winning this awesome giveaway would be an AMAZING surprise! :) And thank YOU for continuing to blog about your running adventures…love reading it! And Emma and Kylie are the cutest; wish my little beagle mix could keep up with me!

  50. Marie @ Chocolate and Wine May 24, 2011 at 11:17 am #

So here’s the thing with me and surprises. I LOVE them but if I know a surprise is being planned for me (or if it’s a gift) I have a hard time waiting for it. One year for my birthday, my boyfriend surprised me by taking me to Six Flags New England where we spent the whole day on rollercoasters. I loved it.

  61. Jen May 24, 2011 at 11:25 am #

I love surprises! No one ever surprises me though :( Once my parents flew down and surprised me for a visit, but that’s the only time I’ve truly ever been surprised.

  62. Freya May 24, 2011 at 11:26 am #

I love them :D mainly because they NEVER happen in my world! I’m very rarely surprised- the only times I have been recently have been when I received a bloggy food swap package. That was awesome :D (but I reckon a box of running stuff would be even better!)

I love surprises! When I was a kid my parents didn’t make any secret about where they hid Christmas presents because they knew I would never sneak a peek….what’s the point of waiting all year for Christmas Day if you already know what’s going to be under the tree?

  70. Angie May 24, 2011 at 11:35 am #

Congrats on 700! I love reading your blog! I love to be surprised! My favorite type of surprise is food (go figure). Most people have figured this out about me. Bring me food, leave it on my desk, in my house, give me your edges or crust, you name it… I’ll love you forever!

  71. Carlee May 24, 2011 at 11:36 am #

I absolutely LoVE surprises! I feel like after you’re an adult there aren’t enough surprises in life. I refused to find out the gender of both of my children before they were born-to the point where i was disappointed when the nurse came in right before my c-section, did the ultrasound to make sure the baby was still breech, and was upset when she said “he”.
Already a facebook fan & tweeting now! :)

  81. Kate May 24, 2011 at 12:00 pm #

I like surprise gifts and treats! And know this is awful but i hate surprise parties!! I think it stems from a middle school surprise sleep over party I attended where the birthday girl was surprised after a day-long basketball tournament. I just remember her arriving being exhausted, sweaty and as we excitedly shouted “SURPRISE!” she looked like the last thing she wanted was 12 girls sleeping over and all she wanted to do was shower and sleep.

I love surprise gifts/presents. Hate to be surprised. My best surprised and I don’t know how it’s been pulled off has always been baby showers. I mean I knew I was pregnant, I knew I would be having a baby, yet, I didn’t know people cared enough to plan a shower for us. Needless to say, there were a lot of tears.

Im going to like you on FB right now!

  87. Wendi Matt May 24, 2011 at 12:23 pm #

1… I liked your fb page!

2…. ok, I have two examples of surprises, one good, one bad…

good: my mom surprised me last year with a thirtieth biday party! It was so awesome and I had no idea. I was kind of gross because it was at the lake and I had worked out that morning and not showered…. bleh.. but we danced and there was karaoke and a dj. it was awesome

bad: my friend, Ronnie, used to love to scare me in college and we were going on a road trip to Atlanta. He decided to hide in the trunk so when I opened it to put the luggage in, he jumped out and scared me. He also scared me in a hotel in Durham.. not awesome

    3. I’m about to tweet so I hope I win!!

  88. Val May 24, 2011 at 12:24 pm #

I love surprises! I think surprises are under-utilized in our lives. It takes confidence to plan a surprise, and a little extra work. Surprise gifts, surprise parties, surprise dinners, I love them all. In fact, you’ve inspired me to come up with a surprise for someone special this week….

  89. Corey @ the runners cookie May 24, 2011 at 12:26 pm #

I LOVE surprises!! One of my best surprises ever would have to be before the hubby and I were married and we were just starting to date. I needed a place to stay as it was right before college graduation but a girl was subletting my apartment but she had to be out of the dorm before graduation, and I wasn’t getting along with my roomies so I just moved out early. The pre-hubby offered up his place as a crash pad. I accepted and after going home for the weekend to get some more of my stuff I came back to a half cleaned out closet (to make room for mine) and a cleaned apartment that he knew I would like. That was a great surprise and basically sealed the deal!

I love surprises. My biggest and best surprise was when my husband proposed to me. I had no idea it was coming, and he proposed unexpectedly at our favorite restaurant, after our friends “failed” to show up. Little did I know everyone was in on it. :)

i LOVE surprises, too! For my 30th birthday, I thought we were just hosting a typical superbowl party (my birthday is always right around super bowl sunday), but while i was greeting the first guests (who got there early as a distraction), my husband taped pictures of me from all 30 years all over our house and in the driveway! he had conspired with my mom to get the pictures blown up poster size. it was hysterical- there were pictures all over the house- i kept finding them for days!! (BTW, i got him back by repeating the gesture at a college baseball game- posters of his childhood pics all over the stadium)

he also surprised me for a birthday by saying he couldn’t come home (he was working out of town) and showed up at the restaurant with a dozen roses!

A fun surprise that I recently experienced was in April when I ran the Chicago Shamrock Shuffle 8k. My hubby was super sweet and secretly planned for my entire family to come into town bright and early to support me at my race. It was a great surprise, and it made for a wonderful day.

  118. Cheryl May 24, 2011 at 1:33 pm #

LOVE surprises : ) Who doesn’t? My most recent was from a friends hubby, he “gifted” us a girls day out when he went out of town, tix to a ballgame w/post game concert, drinks & tapas at one downtown cafe, and dinner at another downtown cafe!!

As far as running goes, I like being surprised by seeing someone I know when I run. I often go quite early, so it is fun to see a friend out. My favorite surprise is when I passed three other runners going the other way. It was dark and I couldn’t tell who they were. One of them shouted, “He’s running, he’s running!” Considering I weighed 325 and could barely walk about a year previously, it was great! Didn’t find out until weeks later who said it. That was fun!

i love surprises! but if i know i’m getting a surprise i will do everything i can to find out what it is.

i remember once for my 17th birthday i was going out to dinner with my friends and i decided to head to the restaurant a little bit early to get our name in for a table. well, i walked outside my apartment and saw some people taking a bunch of balloons out of their car. they were pink! my favorite! i got closer and realized they were my friends! they were going to surprise me by knocking on the door with all the balloons. oops!

I have a love/hate relationship with surprises, I LOVE being surprised, but the suspense of waiting kills me which I HATE. Last year for my birthday my boyfriend gave me a hint every day for two weeks as to what he had got me for my birthday, it was both fun and painfully suspenseful. Even after all the hints I could not figure it out and was more than ecstatic at my surprise of a beautiful pink sapphire ring. The suspense and torture was every bit worth it when I saw my surprise!

  135. Grace May 24, 2011 at 2:23 pm #

I love surprises. My friends threw me a surprise birthday party last year. I have a pretty mild reaction to surprises even though I love them–and I totally freaked out to make all my buddies happy that they surprised me–it was FUN!!!!!

i love surprises ! as long as they are good surprises (not a surprise like the alternator giving out randomly in the middle of a busy road). one of my favorite surprises was when i got a package in the mail that i was not at all expecting. it was an ork print of the heart, which i had been wanting for a while – so my bf decided to surprise me with it for no reason at all :)

I’m usually not a huge fan of surprises because I’m a planner and need to know things in advance. It’s kind of sad actually because I keep telling my husband to plan a surprise trip to Disney – but he knows I would go crazy not being able to plan it (and worried he would do it ‘incorrectly’.) It’s kind of sad actually…

We have done a suprise anny party for our grandparents, suprise bday party for my stepmom, and surprise bday party for my FIL. I like surprises. I’m not very good at being surprised, since I tend to figure things out (a lot of times without trying) and I tend to really plan out things at times – but I think that makes a surprise even that much more special when it can be pulled off. :)

holy cow, 700 is A LOT!! congrats, i’m sure it’s been quite the journey and i’ve loved following along : )

i can go both ways on surprises…depends on the situation. i do love to surprise others, though. last month i threw my parents a surprise 30th anniversary party with 60+ friends and family. it was definitely a lot of work but it went off without a hitch and will be something i’ll remember forever.

  193. Meghan May 25, 2011 at 2:50 am #

I am usually not a huge surprise fan, because I am a weirdo and like to plan everything ahead. I think this started when I was about twelve–my parents told my twin sister and I we were going out to a nice restaurant for lunch on our birthday, so we got all dressed up and got in the car…and they drove us to a theater, where it turned out they’d gotten us all really good seats to see “West Side Story.” It was an AWESOME gift, but because we thought we were going out to eat we hadn’t eaten since breakfast, and so I spent the performance STARVING and eating cough drops for the sustenance. This may also be why I tend to carry emergency snacks at all times…

  194. Hanne May 25, 2011 at 2:54 am #

I like surprises in the form of gifts, but I generally don’t like to be surprised – a bit too much of a type A person, I guess. However, it was a total surprise to me when my husband purposed, but that surprise was definitely a great one :)

I don’t know whether or not I’m eligible for the contest seeing that I’m not from the US, but congrats on the 700 posts anyway!

I do like surprises, but I don’t often get them :( My last child was a surprise…we were done having kids, he wanted to be a part of our family…he snuck his way in…and we sure love him (even if I wasn’t thrilled to be pregnant at the time)

I like surprises, althought I do feel a little awkward when there is attention on me during a surprise. Let’s see, I was probably most surprised when my husband proposed….I really wasn’t expecting it! And I’d love to be surprised by a box of running gear–what a fun idea.

I already like you on facebook :)

I love surprises. My favorite surprise was when I was accepting into grad school at my top school. I was driving down the high way and was completely speechless. Love the idea of a surprise box of running favorites :)

  211. Lauren May 25, 2011 at 7:02 am #

    Congratulations!! 700 posts is amazing!!

I have a love/hate relationship with surprises. I LOVE getting them, but I’m really awful about waiting (patience is not exactly a strength of mine). The best surprises are when I know I’m not getting surprised (if that makes any sense)…

I love surprises. When I was engaged my bridal party surprised me with a shower. I am so hard to surprise but everyone including my fiance was in on it and didn’t spoil it. I knew I had a shower planned for later in the year so anything that made me think something was up I just ignored. I was SO shocked when I walked into a room and everyone from my hometown was there. It was such a blur! Luckily my MOH rocked and had a spare dress for me to wear in her car :)

I enjoy the occasional surprise, but not when it’s out in public or around strangers-I get embarrassed having attention focused on me. I had friends hire a stripper to “dance” with/for me at our favorite nightclub……with everyone in the place watching! I was so embarrassed.

  222. Valerie May 25, 2011 at 9:55 am #

It depends, for life in general I hate surprises! They always mean bad things – losing your job, getting hurt – life should just go as planned :) For gifts and events and everything else, surprises are great!

  223. HollyMW May 25, 2011 at 10:10 am #

My boyfriend (now fiance) surprised the you-know-what out of me by proposing this weekend. I can honestly say I had no idea it was going to happen. After that, I have to say that I LOVE suprises.

  224. Meg May 25, 2011 at 10:12 am #

I love surprises! I think the best surprise I’ve had was when my best friend showed up to my birthday dinner — I was coming home from Boston and just went through a horrible break-up. Somehow, my mom got in touch with my best friend, Anya, and she was there! I just thought that was really sweet of my family and best friend! :) Thanks for your awesome giveaways!!!

  227. Nicole May 25, 2011 at 11:41 am #

I love surprises if they are between me and one other person (boyfriend, mom, etc.) but I hate it if a group of people surprise me! I like to be prepared in those situations..

  228. Felice May 25, 2011 at 12:14 pm #

    Happy 700!
I sometimes like surprises — depends on the situation. I loved being surprised when my husband proposed on a trip to Ireland 14 years ago, that’s for sure!

I love surprises! My bf is big on surprises and “mystery dates.” One of the best surprises was coming home to a Christmas tree setup in my apartment, with lights strung and timer set. Loved it! And he also surprised me with a sunset picnic dinner on the beach for my birthday last year! Looking forward to seeing what he has planned for my birthday (tomorrow!)

I love suprises! My suprise was in Jan or this yr: One of the best ones I ever had that I will never forget is when my Mom drove up (2 hrs) after work to suprise me for my 27th birthday. I wasn’t too excited to be turning 27. She drove up with a Baskin Robbins ice cream cake, a new blouse for work, Ryan Hall’s book(which is awesome!), an Iris, and of course a big hug!! I cried when I saw her. I was totally not expecting it! She stayed for about 30 min and then drove the 2hr drive back home. That’s a great MOM for sure!!! :)

I love surprises! One of my most memorable was coming home from summer camp in the 5th grade. My parents had completely re-decorated my room to a more “mature” style for my start into middle school. I loved it!

I’m not big on surprises, but there are a few surprises that I do look forward to in life, like marriage proposal or waiting to find out the sex of baby until it’s born (or so that’s what I say now).

Who doesn’t love surprises?! The best story is that a couple days before my 25th birthday, on Friday night, my boyfriend told me that he had a surprise for me. Then he wouldn’t let me go to sleep. Finally my best friend, who had been living about 500 miles away showed up at the door! So surely you can see why I thought that was my surprise. The next day we went to an Arts Festival, and it was really hot out. We were tired and hot and sweaty and so headed home. Just as soon as we arrived back home, another friend of mine from out of town (~100 miles away) called and said he was at a bar down the street, and to come down and have a drink with him. I was like, noooo we just came from there, I don’t want to go. The boyfriend and bestfriend were like “we should go! come on!” but I railed against them saying it was too hot and I didn’t feel like it. Finally they talked me into it, and when I got to the bar I found a huge surprise birthday party in my honor! That was the best surprise ever :)

Oh, and I also liked you on facebook :)

Hey, Aron! Great idea to celebrate the milestone post and thank your followers. I tweeted and liked you on Facebook. As for surprises, I love them! In fact, don’t tell me what’s in the box and just let me open it up one day and find out. I’m sure my two little girls would enjoy going through the box just like they would a present on Christmas. :) And, I’ll share the loot with my group of runners that meet each morning at 6 a.m. during the week to spread the love. Thanks for the consideration! Keep on running and blogging!

I like most surprises! My parents used to hate that I wouldn’t make a Christmas list because I always wanted everything to be a surprise on Christmas morning. That being said…I like good surprises! Bad surprises that pop out of nowhere (like losing your keys…) are miserable.

I already liked you on facebook. :)

  256. Claire May 26, 2011 at 6:56 am #

I don’t love surprises. I am rather particular and picky at times. But once, I went out to dinner for my birthday and my name and “happy birthday” was printed on the menus. That was a lovely surprise!

  257. Kat May 26, 2011 at 8:27 am #

LOVE SUPRISES…when I let them happen. I usually blow all surprises because I snoop at xmas or birthdays or I am too much of a control freak to let them happen. My husband surprised me this Christmas with new diamond earrings (to replace my favorite ones that were stolen). He used a bonus check that I had no idea about and totally surprised me. It was the best and so sweet!

  258. Marilynn May 26, 2011 at 9:46 am #

I LOVE surprises! The best one was when my husband surprised me with his proposal by flying out to Reno (from LA) while I was there visiting a best friend from college. We were hiking near Lake Tahoe when he leaped out of the bushes and grabbed me! I screamed for dear life and then changed into my favorite dress, which he brought along so I’d look pretty for the pictures :) Then we had a picnic with sandwiches, cheese and bread, and my favorite sparkling wine :D

  259. Tara Marie May 26, 2011 at 10:39 am #

I hate surprises! Unfortunately my boyfriend loves them! But I am very lucky because he gives me the best and most thoughtful presents and ideas! But I go crazy waiting for them!

  260. Katie~ Run For The Bikini May 26, 2011 at 11:08 am #

Hmmm I think I mostly don’t like surprise. . . but if it is my fiance surprising me with a bottle of wine he picked up on the way home, I like that :)

  261. Samantha May 26, 2011 at 1:28 pm #

I love surprises! My favorites are when my parents just send me a nice care package at school. It makes my day brighten!

  262. Lauren @ Sassy Molassy May 26, 2011 at 1:28 pm #

Ooh, this is a fun one. I actually love surprises but haven’t been surprised. I always wanted a surprise bday party, but my mom isn’t a planner type. Now I’m just waiting until the manfriend has to propose (hello-surprise central!). But even then, part of me wants to script it for him and tell him where to take me and how to do it. But I KNOW I can’t do that, so I’m keeping my lips sealed. :)

  263. Katie May 26, 2011 at 3:39 pm #

I love surprises if they are for no reason, but surprises specific to holidays or birthdays make me go crazy!

I LOVE surprises….big or small. Even silly stuff!!! I just ran my first “real” race and I thought it was Christmas when I picked up my race packet :) Nevermind that it was ice tea packets, headbands and deodorant….it was AWESOME!

  268. katie May 30, 2011 at 10:58 am #

I HATE surprises. Please see: marriage proposal at my surprise 30th birthday party. ARRGGGGHH. But it all worked out in the ends.

I love surprises (the good kind). My husband surprised me when he proposed- we had talked about getting engaged a while later. I had no idea what he was doing when he got down on one knee!

    And happy 700!

  272. Mari May 31, 2011 at 7:41 am #

I love surprises in the sense of birthdays etc. Or receiving a Christmas present I though was lost in the mail in April!

However not such a big fan of people returning home after a long absence without warning, not sure why. I guess I have to be mentally prepared or something? That does not even makes sense…

    Congratulations on your 700th post!

  273. Elisabeth May 31, 2011 at 8:51 am #

I love surprises. I think its fun to not know what is coming (especially when you are truly surprised) it can make things far more interesting (and sometimes when you aren’t surprised and are expecting something it can be a bit of a let down.).

AH! I almost forgot to post! Anyways, I like to know in general that a surprise will happen but not to know what it is! For example, I would like to know that my boyfriend is thinking about proposing soon, but not when, how, and what he will present me. Get it? :)
