Today I crossed the 1,000 mile mark for 2011!
The best part is I did it on one of my favorite runs, in one of my favorite cities and with some of my favorite running friends!
After a week of blah running I knew I needed a little soul refresher, so when Alyssa texted me to see if I wanted to run on Saturday I knew I needed to go. I woke up early, drove into SF, and met up with Katie, Layla and Alyssa for a 16 miler around San Francisco.
We ran through the Presidio, UP Lincoln and headed to the Golden Gate Bridge.

Then we headed back through the Presidio to Golden Gate park – lots of hills! We chatted the whole way, enjoyed the perfect weather and the park full of runners.
I had checked my mileage a couple days ago and last night I realized that if I ran 16 miles today I would pass 1,000 miles for the year! I mentioned this to the girls around mile 10 and they were very excited for this also. I hadn’t been sure if I was going to go 16 or not, but I felt good, had great company and knew today was the day to do it! 16 miles later we were done and all happy.
After we were done we went and had coffee and chatted for a long time about a little bit of everything. Alyssa also bought and decorated a cookie for me to celebrate.
It was such a great run and morning with the girls, it was just what I needed.
1,000 miles done… Can’t wait for the next 1,000!

Wow you are amazing! 1000 miles and it’s not even June yet! I think it is so cool to get to run in that part of SF. I envy your run today. I will be up there running the SF marathon in July. Maybe I will see you there. Congrats on the milage. Impressive!

You know had rad that is, right? Some people would faint at the idea of running 1000 miles in a YEAR! or two years! I’d say you’re having a great year so far.
