My First Boston: I did it!

I can’t stop smiling.

What an amazing day.  From walking to the buses, to sitting in Athlete’s Village, to waiting in my corral, to running the race… it was all just amazing and I am so happy with how it went.

I knew early on a PR wasn’t in the books – it was hot (I am sunburnt!), the course was tough, and I really just wanted to take in everything around me.  I have never been so in tune with everything going on on the course and with the course itself.  I definitely soaked every ounce up and the race went by so fast. 

Garmin: 26.45 miles/3:51:57/8:45 avg pace
Official: 26.2 miles/3:51:55/8:50 avg pace

I definitely beat my nemesis 3:57 time AND ran every step which I was really happy with.

Thank you all so much for your support today!  I thought about everyone tracking me each time I stepped on the mats, I wished I could give you a live update!

Race report to come, not sure if I will be sticking to my standard “day of” report because I have some celebrating to do and I have a lot to say, but I can’t wait to tell you ALL about it!  Hopefully I will get to it soon, in the meantime know I am a very very happy girl and it was definitely a day worth working so hard for and a day I will never ever forget.

    Awesome job! You were one of the 5 I had on my official tracking schedule. You ran a great race, did not start too fast, but also took advantage of the rolling downhills at the beginning. Looking forward to the RR!

    I am WAY down on the list of comments here, but just wanted to let you know that I followed you online and thought you ran an awesome race! A couple of other folks I know ran it and were holding the same pace for a good chunk, but in the last half of the race they both dropped way off. You, on the other hand, maintained the same pace right to the end! A testament to your training. Happy to hear you had such a great experience. An historic Boston Marathon for so many reasons…
