products galore

i have had a number of products sitting around me to be reviewed for a long time now and i have been slacking!  bad aron.

so here it is… a bunch of fun products i have had the pleasure of reviewing!

sof sole socks

it’s no secret that i have very specific tastes in socks.  ever since i started running in wright socks i have never not worn them, so when i was contacted by sof sole to try some of their socks, i was excited but also very nervous!  my feet are super sensitive and i didn’t want to risk getting blisters, but i also won’t just review something on the blog without trying it.

so i did it.  i ran in socks that weren’t my wright socks.  it wasn’t a long run, but it was a run, and i didn’t get any blisters!  these are pretty thick socks and are VERY soft and have a lot of cushion which i am a fan of.   they do have some seams which made me nervous for blisters, but they haven’t bothered me at all so far.  since then, i have worn them a number of times and haven’t had any problems.  i wear them every time i ride my bike and i wear them just around the house, they are very comfy and make my tired feet happy!  they feel like little slippers.

lanacane

this was another product that i was nervous to test.  i have been using body glide for such a long time, and the risk of getting chaffed is a big one in my book, i don’t want to get chaffed!  but i was a good girl and tested it out just for you guys :)

the one thing that i didn’t like was that i had to put it on my hands to rub it in, rather than it being on a stick like body glide.  i just didn’t want to touch it, but i am sure i could figure out a way around that (tissue, towel or something on that order?).  besides that, i really liked the stuff!  it wasn’t greasy at all and definitely kept the chaffing away.  since it isn’t on a stick, its not chunky at all and won’t leave behind chunks like body glide sometimes does (or is that just me?).  i will definitely be finishing off the tube and will even consider buying some on my own.

cheribundi

i am not a big juice person, but i do like to see the benefits that drinking juice can add (vitamins, etc).  it’s also an easy way to add some calories if you need them during marathon training.  i find sometimes i have a hard time making up my calories on big workout days, so it can be a good, healthy way to get them.

this juice is tart, but not too tart like some juices, it’s one i could actually drink.  their website also has a list of recipes (cocktails, salad dressings, etc) that you can use the juice in.  i haven’t tried any of these but actually might get some more of the juice to test them out!

all these products were sent to me for no charge to review.

**********************************

this week has been all messed up scheduling wise.  between our heat wave (gross but i think its gone now), the dave matthews band concert last night (weeee i love them), and who knows what else (work, life, smoke from a local fire), i feel like my normal scheduling was thrown out the window this week.  i am not stressing, it happens, and i will still have a strong week, but i just feel out of sorts and a little off.

tuesday i got up early to run.  this is normally my track day but i just could not face going to the track when it was supposed to be 105+ out.  so i ran a general run and just like every morning run these days, warmed up as i went.

7.1 miles/1:02:37/8:49 avg pace

i decided that the heat wouldn’t stop me from riding my bike that night though!  i went out with chris and some other guys from our team.  we had to change our route because there was a fire burning and i didn’t really know how long, far or hard we were going to be riding.  it was HOT out, but when you are going on the bike it doesn’t quite feel as bad, but it’s still warm and you have to make sure to hydrate a lot.  we kept a good speed, cruised in some sections, went harder in others, it was a good ride.

we did climb the steepest hill i have climbed yet and i got freaked in the middle!  it wasn’t the longest hill but it was really steep and it was also a curvy road.  chris stayed near me and talked me through it but there was a time during the middle of the hill when everything in my body was telling me to stop and get off the bike and i was breathing harder than i ever have before, ever.  my legs were shaking and i started panicking because if i stopped that meant i would fall over (clipped in) or i would have to unclip somehow and pretty much walk my bike up to the top because there was no restarting on this hill.  it was pretty crazy and a new experience to me.  with running you can always stop in the middle of a hill if you get tired, but with this there was no stopping!  i did make it up to the top and was very happy to be done with that hill.  i was laughing later about my mini freak out, but it was scary!

31.1 miles/1:54:xx/16.4 mph

wednesday morning i had good intentions of going to a different track workout, but i just couldn’t get out of bed early enough to get there.  i was tired from the ride the night before, plus going to something new AND in the morning you just have to be pumped and ready for, i wasn’t quite there.  i still got up and went on my own, but as soon as i walked out the door i could smell smoke from the fire, ekkk.  i started running and i decided to run over to the track by my house but it was closed for construction.  BAH.  this run was just not turning into a good one, and i just wanted to go home but i decided to make a little detour to add at least a mile.  it turned into me adding a couple more miles so i was very happy to see 6 total for the day, but annoyed i missed track this week, oh well.

6.0 miles/52:45/8:47 avg pace

last night was a late night from the dave matthews band concert but so worth it.  i have a couple more big runs today and tomorrow, and am glad that it’s cooled down some so i can get some of it done post work.  gah it’s just been one of those weeks, but it can still be turned around :)

don’t forget to enter my giveaway from last week – today is the last day!

    as always – awesome #'s!!

Love the body glide review. I've never used a product for chaffing but after my last long run . . . I'm thinking I might. ;)

One of those weeks indeed!! Awesome that it is not stressing you out or getting you down. You can still pull off a great week!

I hope that heat stays away… yuck!!!

I am still nervous about big climbs on the bike – my worry is that I am not going to be able to unclip and I will fall off and roll down the hill (clearly impossible, the rolling down). You have some strong cycling leggs!

Lanacane sounds like a jock-itch product haha. I know the names are probably just similar… Can't quite think of the jock cream thing right now. Lamasil maybe? Ok I guess those sound nothing alike other than they both start with La-.

Biking is easier to do in the heat but it still isn't easy-easy! Great job on all the workouts. I know you'll still pull together a solid week even with the concert interrupting a bit.

I have had that experience on the bike (hill). It's scary and until you do it, you don't really understand. Where was it?

I love that cherry juice stuff! I usually dilute it with water, but it is a good way to get in some extra cals/nutrients :)

Nice job on the runs in this icky weather and the ride! Hills on the bike are scary!!!

    LOVED seeing DMB :)

I have had that EXACT experience on the bike…at one point on a steep hill I was going like 4 MPH and thought I really was going to fall over…thankfully–I didn't!

    Great work.

I liked the Cheribundi stuff too but I'm not convinced that it actually has the benefits it says it has.

Good for you on the bike ride. We were faced with tough hills a month ago. There was no way I was pushing through it. We walked about 3 of the hills and toughed it out on the others. Rough ride.

As for the run, my week was completely messed up as well. Unfort. it was due to a hurtin' hammy. Hoping I can at least get 5 to 6 in Sat.

Good luck for the weekend and I hope you get some good runs in.

That Lanacane looks a bit dubious?

Kudos on the bike thing…great for your balance and max strength to keep the cranks turning!
