without this blog i would have never met this amazing girl maritza, who has become one of my very bestest friends. if you read her blog you know she has decided to move back home to LA to be closer to her family and will be leaving the bay a week from today. i completely understand her decision and wish her nothing but the best (because she deserves nothing less), but on the selfish side i am very sad… i am going to miss her a lot! i don’t like it when my friends move and it’s not going to be the same here without her.
her blog was one of the very first running blogs i started reading back when i started my blog in february of 2008. after many months of commenting, we started to email and since we were local we decided to meet up for a run (after sufficient stalking on both our parts to make sure we were "real" people).
our first "date" was at the lafayette-moraga trail where we met for a long run. she was in taper for the nike women’s marathon and i was ramping up for my first CIM. i was very upset because my garmin didn’t turn on and how on earth was i supposed to run 17 miles without a garmin? being the amazing girl she was, she let me use hers since it was just a taper run for her and she knew the mileage already. after our run we went to breakfast where we proceeded to talk for a long time and became friends instantly. the next weekend i drove her into sf for her marathon since i was planning on cheering for tara anyways, and i even got to run a bit with her to try to cheer her up in a rough race. pretty soon all the girls had met and the ROHOs had been formed.
since then we have had countless memories. we have laughed a lot, we have cried a lot, we have picked each other up when we were down and celebrated our achievements. i cannot imagine what my life would be like without having maritza in it and i am so grateful that this blog gave me the chance to meet her. so-cal is going to be very lucky to have her.
i know i will still be seeing her a lot and we already many plans in the works for the future, but i still am going to miss being able to see her whenever i want.
thank you M for being such a great friend to me, i am such a lucky person to have you in my life. i wish you nothing but the best and can’t wait for our adventures to come, because there will definitely be more. love you so much <3 *cheeeeeese*
******************************
this morning we met up for our last friday morning run with the four of us. we decided to make a theme of the morning and be extra cheesy and match. since san diego was such a fun race for us we all sported our shirts. kristin and i ran together most of the time and kept each other in check when we would speed up so we finally hit more of a recovery pace – yay! after we did abs at kristin’s like last week.
6.3 miles/59:06/9:23 avg pace
happy friday!

wonderful memories and a great tribute to her! Its amazing the absolutely wonderful people we meet through our blogs! For all those people who think blogs are useless, you are totally missing out on some very special people!!
What an awesome post! I can only imagine how sad everyone will be after she leaves, and that's after only spending 2 days with her in Michigan. She rocks! It is always so fun to see these pictures and know what a great connection you girls have. I know that there are many more fun times and memories in store for you all, even if it does require a bit more to get together!
Awwww. I'm being a sap and started to tear up! Can't wait to see you all in October!!!! Cute matching today! Good job on the run!!!!! Xo

Thank you so much for this post. It is full of love and cheese, exactly how I like my RR posts to be.
Thank you for being an amazing friend, for always listening, for getting me up in the mornings for runs, for cheering me on, for encouraging me, for shushing me when I'm being silly and doubting myself, for all the fun times, for being there for the not-so-fun times and just for being you. You are one of my bestest friends too and I am so happy that, although I may be a bit further now, the adventures will never end. Let's be the only wrinkled, old ladies left in our age groups, ok?
♥♥♥ XOXO ♥♥♥
Great post! Saying goodbye to friends is SO HARD but I'm sure your bond will stay strong
I like M too. She *is* pretty cool.
Sorry you guys are losing your running buddy…but your loss is our gain!

i love how blogging has made me closer to others and made really great friends!
Awww, too bad she's moving away, but such a cute post in her honor!
What a sweet post. How great blogging introduced you two!
Aww. That's so sweet!
Losing a pal is always so hard! Especially when she's a running partner. Make lots of road trips to L.A.!
I know everyone has already said this, but I'll say it again, "Aaaaawwwweeee!" You're such a great friend and we are all going to miss her. I'm glad I got to get a lil' bit of Maritza before she moves away
Awww, that was such a sweet post, with great photos and kind words. I'm bummed Maritza's moving since I only just met her, but I think this post was a great way to send her off on the right foot.
I seriously teared up.
( This post was sad and happy and mushy all at once. You girls are lucky to have one another!
What a beautiful post!
Runner friends are just fantastic, all my best friends were met through running and we all share the same love for it. Only runners can understand why we do the crazy things we do
Glad blogging/running could lead you to such a great friendship!
That is just a lovely post – I'm sure the divine Miss M is sitting there weeping as she reads this!
She is lovely – as are you! Loved meeting all you rohos last year and will miss not seeing you this year. Come and see us in the UK!
What a great post! A nice tribute to a great friend. I love M's blog and wish her nothing but the best!
Yea!We get her now here in Socal. Sorry for your loss – but it's not like you're across the country from each other. All the better reason for you to come visit us in Socal every now and then….
What a great post and farewell to M! (I read her blog too.) Best of luck to you, M!
Great post! We'll look after her for you!
Maybe I can get her out on some of my trails!
awesome tribute! for some reason i think i may stalk her on twitter but not be aware of her blog… i know, how could that happen?!?
It is sad to see a friend move away. At least she will be in the same state and you can still see each other!
Aw what a cute running friend! Lots of great runs and memories together.
I'm 98% sure your blog was one of the first I ever read…
