social media has become a huge part of our world today and is a big part of my everyday life. i don’t even have to check the news very often anymore because when something big happens, almost instantly someone posts something on facebook or twitter.
in addition social media has created a huge support network for runners. have a question, need some advice, have cheerleaders at a race in a different state… social media/networking has provided all that for me and i am sure for most of you too!
here are some of my favorite forms…
blogging
obviously. what would i do without you guys? not only does it serve as an outlet for me so i can empty this busy brain of mine, but it also serves as a journal that i can look back on. on top of that i have received so much support, advice and have made a ton of friends!
although i am not the best at twitter and i can get a little overwhelmed, it has really connected me to so many more runners. twitter is more like a conversation, so it’s really great when you have a question.
i just love facebook in general as a way to catch up with friends, post pics and see what is going on with everyone. i also really like using the runner’s rambles facebook page when i update the blog or when i am at an event/race. it’s a nice place to tie things together for me.
i don’t think i mentioned on here before but i joined daily mile a while ago. i haven’t been the best at updating it but i really need to get on it. it’s a great tool for runners to track their miles and also to interact with other runners.
those are my favorites, what are your favorites?
if you are on any of them follow me, like me, friend me and i will follow, like and friend you back!

YAY for 3 day weekends!!! seriously, cannot wait. lots of runs planned, hopefully some bike riding too, and a 5k race where i better beat my time from 2 weeks ago!
have a great weekend everyone!

I haven't gotten into twitter yet. But, I do love reading blogs! It's provided me different perspectives to running that I may have never had.
ummmm, I'm going to go with blogging as it's the ONLY one I have an account with.
I'm such a loser.
Yeah for social networking. Those are my favorites too!
And a hells yes for 3 days weekends! Have a wonderful one
i like twitter…blogging can be like a chore some times. maybe i'll check out daily mile (i have an account already) when i'm back to running.
I really love daily Mile. its nice to find people on there and see their workouts. Its like twitter but just for runners!
It is INSANE how once I started blogging I was seriously automatically connected to all of the other means of media communication!
I just signed up for twitter this week, don't really get it :L
I tried to click on your right now but the twitter site said "Over capacity?!"
Have a great weekend!
I love blogging (of course!), although it can be overwhelming at times…I keep finding new ones and hate when I feel like I'm neglecting them by being busy with life and not keeping up!
I do love twitter, however. I didn't really get it at first, but now I'm a huge fan!
I love social media! blogging, daily mile, twitter, and facebook!!! ahhhhh
))))
Hi, @runnersrambles!
Your tweet looked interesting so I followed the link. Fun blog!
I signed up for DM and found myself not using it because of the added step. I have the Nike+ thingy and when I sync my ipod it automatically uploads to facebook. I also have @twiike set up to post my runs to twitter.
I'm looking at the Garmin toys… I know the Nike+ isn't particularly accurate… Do you use one? Do your peeps have a favorite model?
@emjohnston
Blogger and FB are all I can handle.
i love fb and blogging but sometimes they take over my life! haha. i just got an iphone too so i'm terrified that i'm going to be dependent ha!
I do all but Twitter. I enjoy blogging because I get to share my thoughts and ask for advice from the more seasoned runners out there.
I love FB and Daily Mile because I post my running statuses on them. And for some reason, whenever I get lazy and I see that a friend of mine just finished 3 miles and felt great, I usually will get myself out of the door start running because the competitive part in my doesn't want to be behind and I want to feel GREAT like she did after a run.
I would go insane if I had more than Blogger and Facebook. I'm already walking into things as I check my Blackberry constantly!
'
BTW, miss you….
I sent you a Daily Mile request
good luck on your 5k this weekend!
I love daily mile! I'm on facebook, have two blogs, and twitter sometimes too. I think it's hilarious how fast news travels on twitter… sometimes it's a way better news source for up-to-the minute stuff than anything I can find on google!
The only thing on your list I don't really do is Twitter – I prefer going on a bit I guess – too much to say!
Have a great weekend!
I agree with Susan. I like blogging (especially since it helped me connect with my birthmom), but it can get overwhelming to keep the Google Reader count down…
What did people do before computers?!?
Have a great long weekend!
I cannot lie. I love FB!
i don't really use facebook/twitter much. so hard to keep up with everyone on twitter sometimes! i do use them both for news updates – world-news on twitter and sporting/games results on facebook
FB is a pain with the security
Twitter is fun but I have no real time for it
My heart belongs to blogging
