*gulp*
yes, i bought a bike… a real bike. now don’t get getting any ideas, i am NOT signing up for a triathlon. that would require learning how to swim.
i have been looking at bikes and thinking about them ever since chris got his. he always has so much fun and i always want to tag along. i have gone back and forth for a while but really didn’t want to spend a ton of money, plus when would i ride with all the running i do? then this week our friend’s wife was selling hers, it just happened to fit me perfect, and it was the right price. how could i not? i am really excited to have something fun and new to play around with.
this will be used in addition to my running and hopefully compliment it very nicely from what i hear. i might have to take an extra day off of running (run 5 vs. 6 days), but as long as i am doing something else physical i don’t really care, especially since i am in “off season” right now.
i went with chris to our friend’s house last night and did my first interval workout on the trainer – so fun! it’s going to be nice to have some cross-training to mix in that doesn’t require setting foot in a gym. i am excited for some new adventures and a little scared too, but definitely overall excited. now i just gotta learn how to ride this thing! (i know how to ride a bike, but i don’t know how to ride clipped in or all the rules, etc, but thankfully i have a great husband as my teacher, plus tons of other resources.)
yipeeeeeeeeee!
**********************************************
this morning i got up for an easy 6 miler. i should have done some tempo miles but i wasn’t sure how my legs would feel after last night’s intervals so i just kept the pace on the easy end.
i also crossed the 1000 mile mark on my run this morning
6.2 miles/55:06/8:53 avg pace
this weekend i have a long run planned (~14 miles) then i get to spectate at chris’s next triathlon on sunday! he has been working his butt off and this will be his longest one to date (olympic) and last one before the big one this summer. i am so excited to see how he does.
good luck to all the racers and have a great weekend!

Congrats on the 1000 miles!! Enjoy the new bike! Good luck to Chris this weekend in the Tri!!
Have fun with your new toy!
Nice! Congrats on the new wheels!!
Awesome on passing the 1000-mile mark too!
Have a great weekend!
Have fun with the new bike. And you don't have to sign up for triathlons, you can just go straight for a duathlon instead – run, bike, run. No swimming involved!
Love your new ride! And congrats on crossing the 1,000-mile mark.
What kind of bike is that?
Yaaaaaayyyyy for a new bike!!!! Now we can go on biking adventures
congrats on crossing 1000 mark!
1,000 miles AND a new bike?!?! You are the ultimate athlete! Congrats!
I too feel your fear about the bike. I used to do triathlons in college and fell off enough times to give me a good scare. If you want, I can bring my bike back up and we can learn together
Congrats on the mile-stones (1000 miles and bike). I've been thinking about getting a bike too. I can't wait to see your cross-training with it.
FUN! You WILL love the bike, trust me!! It's a great alternative to running, and still keeps the legs strong!
I actualy *just* posted today on "getting the gear" – because there is quite a lot of stuff out there for cycling! heh, enjoy
and congrats on your 1000 miles! that's just incredible, its only June! ha
Congrats on hitting 1000 before mid-year! Also, the bike sounds like a fun toy. Have fun with it!
I just bought one too! So fun! Congrats on 1000 miles – that's awesome!
congrats! Bikes are a blast. that bike makes me jealous, I only have the trek 1.1!
Congrats! It is a nice looking bike!
Hawt Wheels!
Brave girl on the bike. I hope you enjoy it.
Well wishes to Chris over the weekend!
Congrats on hitting 1000! Now you get to count backwards.
A bike and 1000 miles! LOVE IT!
Way

go!!
I think you will really love the bike! It is a very nice way to mix things up.
Congrats on the 1000 miles! have fun spectating the race.
LOVE IT! You're going to be so obsessed with that baby in no time! Congrats on the mileage…you're seriously getting after it, girl!
You look like a natural!
YAY for a bike!!! So exciting!
WOOHOO!!!
Biking is so much fun, esp. on hot summer days and with someone you love. Yay for the new family addition
oooh purty!
I think you'd kick butt in duathlons!
Lovely bike!! I want one too, but we'll see.
Enjoy the new toy, and as others have already commented, there's always duathalons!
Congrats on the new bike AND the 1000miles! That is amazing!!! Good job
I think you'll love your bike, especially since you can share the rides with your man. It's a great way to loosen up tired running legs! Enjoy.
Good job to 1000 miles! Wow! That bike looks pretty sweet. Have fun with it.
So jealous! You're going to have so much fun!!
Happy 1000 miles!!
Yay for the bike!!! And good luck to Chris!!!
Someone already beat me to it, but they do have run/bike events. I dont even know if I could figure out how to ride a bike, but I know that swimming just aint gonna happen. I've thought of trying to do run/bike, or just moving right to bike and going for a distance ride. But, I'd have to get over my fear of my lack of balance and off center balance of gravity
Congrats!!
That sure looks like a bike for racing! It is WAY better than mine and I DO race. You could totally do a duathlon, as others mentioned. And I bet you would rock it!
oooh does your dining room double as the bike room too? lol – mine definitely does. so classy
i don't feel so bad anymore about my ghetto ness.
congrats on 1000!!
WOW! Congrats on 1000 miles! That's a major milestone! And yay for the bike! Only a matter of time before you're tri-ing
Have fun with it!!
Ooh, that is definitely a very nice toy! I'm sure you will get lots of enjoyment out of it!
Hopefully you love that bike. Mine was totally like a new toy for me.
I can't believe you hit 1000 miles and we're only HALF way through the year! Great job!
I want a bike but i'm scared of swimming to so no tri's for me but I would like to do some riding to cross train (maybe keep this hip injury from flaring up again?). Enjoy your new toy!
