i was tagged by tall mom for the versatile blogger award going around. it’s been a while since i have done one of these so i thought it would be fun.
rules: post 7 random things and tag 15 people!
- my name is spelled "aron" because my dad’s name is ron. my middle name also has parts of my mom’s name. one time in like 4th grade i started spelling my name "erin" for like a week. it didn’t last long and i realized i do like the way my name is spelled even if everyone thinks i am a boy :-/
- my senior year of high school i had to do a report on colleges/careers and i said i wanted to be a CPA. i even have people writing "aron, cpa" in my yearbook. looky looky what i am now. why on early i wanted to do that, i still don’t know but hey i guess i am focused on getting where i wanted to be? can i change now though?
- that focus did go away for a little bit when i almost flunked out of college my freshman year. i was having way too much fun. oops.
- i am not a product girl. i hate spending money on shampoo, makeup, and all that stuff. don’t get me wrong, i like it, but i tend to not spend money on it. i would rather skimp on the cheaper stuff and save my money for clothes.
- chris and i almost eloped. we went to tahoe the week after we graduated college and decided to get married. we picked out a ring, called our parents, the whole deal. after talking to my dad i realized i really wanted a wedding, so we decided to get engaged instead. a year and a day later in tahoe we got married.
- i haaate talking on the phone. text me, email me, but please don’t call. i hate voicemails even worse.
- my very first job was a cashier at a bakery. i got to help people, place wedding cake orders, and have access to lots of yummy goodies. i also got to clean under the donut frier and do dishes daily.

running!
monday night i went to a local trail running group with tara and maritza. i have been wanting to go for a while now and just never had. the whole doing something new/for the first time always just get to me, but we went and it was SO FUN! they mark local trails for you and there were about 20 other runners out and everyone just goes at their own pace. it’s going to be a great way to find local trails without having to go completely by myself.
i ran by myself most of the time but pretty close to a couple other runners. we had a couple downhill miles in the middle but definitely paid for it by having to climb back up. it was a beautiful day and we dropped into some beautiful canyons, had to cross some creeks, saw a ton of cows… overall a great night. i will definitely be back!
6.1 miles/1:01:18/10:03 avg pace
wednesday night was back at the track!
our workout:
1 set 8x400m
1 set 4x400m
all at fast/5k pace pace
~1 min between repeats/longer between the 2 sets
i knew the key for this for me was going to be pacing, i did not want to start off too fast and die. well i still started out too fast on the first one, but after that i was able to dial it in and keep a relatively consistent pace through most of my workout. i really didn’t look at my watch much, this was mostly by effort, so i was happy.
we did this as a “relay” of sorts. we were partnered up with someone (i was with chris) and while he was running i was resting and visa versa. it was a fun way to do it and i was happy to have over a minute of rest between sets compared to the 30 seconds last week.
my splits:
1st set: 1:37.9, 1:40.8, 1:40.5, 1:41.9, 1:41.8, 1:40.5, 1:41.4, 1:41.4
2nd set: 1:39.8, 1:41.3, 1:41.9, 1:40.5
total intervals: 3 miles/20:09.7/6:43 avg
avg repeat: 1:40.8
total with warm up and cool down: 5.9 miles/50:30/8:38 avg pace
another great, but tough workout… 400s are hard! i felt better than last week, but still feel like i am getting back in speed work mode. i just have to keep working hard over the next couple months and it will pay off!

that's soooo cool about your name! i love that it has real significance. and OMG i hate talking on the phone too. i have major phone-phobia
I love that story about your name!!! My husband and I almost eloped, but we decided against it at the last minute. Looking back I wish we took the money my parents offered us instead of the big wedding. Oh well!!! Loved your list
Fun list! Too cute that you almost eloped in Lake Tahoe, then ended up getting married there a year later!
Nice work at the track, and the trail running group sounds like a GREAT resource!
I am soooo jealous of your trail running group during the week! Sooo cool!
Great job on the track workout! I actually like 400's WAY more than 800's – they're over quicker
I talk on the phone all day so I HATE doing it outside of work! And I also hate voicemails. Mine even says "I probably won't listen to this for days, so you might want to text me"
I hate to spend $ on anything other than gear – new running shoes, new bike gear, new swimsuit, whatever. Hair products, uh, no and it shows;)
Too funny about the name thing, and the story about your engagement is cute. Have a great weekend!
Thanks for the tag!
I had SUCH a blast at that trail run on Monday! We definitely have to keep going back…my muscles love it! Thanks for encouraging us to go!
hehe! i ALSO hate talking on the phone. i'm all about email and messages etc. i hate texting, but i like receiving texts. i'm just really bad at typing and have an old phone so not super easy to text on.
loved your list
I hate talking on the phone. And when I do, I try to keep it short. It does kinda irks me when people call me, exchange a prolonged niceties and ask about a bunch of stuff, when they can just go ahead and ask me a question, get the answer and hang up.

getting married in tahoe must have been awesome! I have always wanted to go there…hopefully someday!
Great job on the 400s! Totally a tough workout! I might have to try that one!
I'm soooo with you on the phone thing. I get so nervous whenever I have to call someone, or if I see an unknown number pop up on my phone. If we could all just text, I think I'd be fine
Good work on the runs!
I am with you on the phone talking. I rarely do it. If you leave me a phone message it may take months for me to get back to you. But text or email and I'll probably respond the same day.
Great job at your track workout! I will have to pick your brain later on in the year about speed stuff. And I am glad you got longer than 30 seconds to rest! 30 seconds is just evil.
I too always wondered how you got the name aron. Thanks for revealing!
And great work on the track work. I almost want to do them too but I'll do the tag instead
Holy speedy intervals. Nice work!!! Talking on the phone has never been my thing either. Totally agree with you there and on the saving money for clothes:)
Thanks for the Tag!!!
I love learning new things about others! I didnt use to hate talking on the phone but i'm starting to… i hate voicemails though. with a passion. i dont even listen to them i just delete them. i'll take texts and emails as well! <3
Nice running this week!
I don't mind the phone but I HATE HATE HATE voicemail! On my work phone I even encourage people to send an email since they are much more likely to get a response that way. I am with you on the products too – I like them but I would rather have clothes.
Good job with the speed workout!
#4 and #6, totally me. for some reason, i can't imagine you flunking out of college. i imagine you studying hard and getting straight As. thanks for the tag:)
that's kinda cool you knew early on what you wanted to do. i was a ball of confusion until my last year of college.
Thanks for playin Erin…LOL!!
I still dont know what I want to be..
I love the list. The last one made me laugh…that job had the good and the bad. Number 5 is a lot of fun. I love that you still got married in Tahoe.
The relay-style speed work sounds great!
What a fun post! My name is spelled "Jaime" and people always spell it wrong. Not the same as you …. yours actually has signficance which is cool!! I HATE voicemails, too!!
400's are tough! Great job getting through the workout and running well!!!
i hate and won't spend money on products, either. the only thing i splurge on is shampoo and that's b/c i have crap hair.
and i'm with you on the phone thing. i won't listen to VMs so don't even bother leaving them!
I hate talking on the phone too. I feel so bad but I just hate it! And I rarely listen to voicemails either, and I get stressed knowing I have lots of messages to sort through.
oh i despiiiiiiiise talking on the phone. i dont know why! i never check voicemails either… lol. i mean eventually i might. i have one on my phone now from like 5/13. hope it's not important.
nice job on the 400's! they are tough, but at the same time i am like it's only a little over ~1:30, you can do this.
Where was the trail run on Monday night? Just curious.
Thanks for the tag, lady!!
I'm really surprised you knew way back when that you wanted to be a CPA. Way to have a dream and GO FOR IT!
LOVE the facts. Really good stuff Aron. And now I've figured out your name as well – cool.
As for your trail run it sounds wonderful. You're very inspiring – the way your running just keeps changing and getting better. Can't keep up honey !
