finally i was home for an entire weekend! after being gone for 4 weekends in a row it was REALLY great to be home AND i had a weekend full of blogger meet ups – so fun!
friday after work i got in my run since i failed to get out of bed on friday morning after being up all night with a sick puppy
i had not the best day on friday at work, so i was happy to be running once i got off. my legs were a little bit sore from track on wednesday but once i got running they felt great. i totally zoned out, listened to my music and just let myself run. i love these runs when the pace feels effortless and you can just let out the frustrations of the day.
6.0 miles/49:06/8:11 avg pace
saturday i had plans to meet up with jolynn at her favorite trail! i was so excited to be breaking out my trail shoes for the first time in way too long. i woke up really early again from the sickie and just stayed awake. i got ready, took kylie on a long walk (which was SO nice, i forgot how nice it is to just walk – must remember this!), then loaded up emma in the car to take her with me. we met at 8am and were off into the hills!
it was a beautiful day, perfect temps and the sun was shining. emma had a BLAST. she loves loves trail running and i will definitely be taking her with me again very soon. she would run ahead of us and always come back to check where we were, didn’t leave a stream untouched and just had a happy look on her face the entire time.
she saw lots of cows and at first was a little hesitant. all the hair on her back was standing straight up, but by the end she was barking at them to move out of our way, and they did. it was so cute. she stood there like i am the boss of you cows!
i had a great time chatting with jolynn and just enjoying being outside with her. i wore my nathan pack for the first time since i wanted to make sure i had enough water for emma too (review to come soon!) and was VERY happy with it. the almost 7 miles flew by so fast and before i knew it we were back at the car. we had coffee and chatted some more and then said our goodbyes for the day. can’t wait for next time!
sunday i had set up a blogger meet up since the chic runner danica was in town! there were a couple of cancellations at the last minute, but we still had a nice turnout. it was another great california day to be out running.
naomi, layla, sandra, danica, page, maritza, me
note to self: this is the second time i took a not-the-best blogger photo…
i know you hate looking at pics right after but really, just check them next time
so you can make sure not to screw up the picture, thanks.
i had 10 miles planned and felt pretty good from the get go. i realized i was running a really good pace around mile 3 and hoped i could keep it up. the first 5 miles are at a slight decline (you really don’t even know its there until you turn around to come back) so i knew the second 5 miles would be a little tougher. i took a gu around mile 5 and headed back to the start. i was still feeling really good and knew i would be really happy if i could negative split this run and i did! it felt good to push it a little and just zone out again. my legs are feeling great this week.
first 5: 42:00/8:24 avg
second 5: 41:04/8:13 avg
total: 10.0 miles/1:23:04/8:18 avg
that makes 40.4 miles this week!
i met up with the rest of the girls at peets and we had coffee and sat and chatted about (i’ll give you one guess), um running. it was nice to see the girls again and also meet a new friend! another successful meet up
i spent the rest of the afternoon running errands and helping chris with the yard work. it was a really nice day out and i was enjoying being outside. in totally random news, we have had a nest in our backyard for a while now and it finally has babies! i was VERY excited to see them.
not the best pic but still so cute!
hope you all had a great weekend!

That is so cool you have a nest. I love when birds trust me enough to build a house on mine!

Really wish bloggers would come to Utica it would be so fun to have a meet up.
Feel free to bring you and your blogger friends to Orlando to run with me! I still have to do occasional long runs and would love some company. Maybe the heat & humidity wouldn't seem so bad …
Hope your baby is feeling better. Cool about the nest!
Thank you SO much for organizing again!! Always so much fun
I wish you ladies lived closer so I could come out to run more often.
Emma needs a little trail running vest
