friday favorites – the grid

when my mom came to visit last weekend we just happened to make a little trip to one of my favorite stores sports basement to pick up a few things.  i have had my eye on the trigger point kits for a very long time, but haven’t forked out the dough to get them yet.  i have also had my eye on their new foam roller: the grid and it just happened to be there.  being the best mom ever, she got me one :) THANK YOU mom!

i brought it home and took it out to give it a test roll and immediately noticed the difference.  my IT band has been a little tight lately, as well as all kinds of other parts of my legs, and i just felt like the regular foam roller wasn’t really getting in there.  this thing did not disappoint.  the grooves really work and are able to get in a lot deeper than just the regular foam roller.

the grooves are supposed to act like finger tips, forearm/palm, and fingers and thumb as shown below.

plus on top of being amazing, its smaller, which means its easier to drag around with me!  i will definitely still be using my long foam roller for certain things on my back when i want the length, but this is my new go-to item for my legs.  if you are in the market for a new foam roller i would definitely consider spending a little extra to pick up this one!

thursday rest day or consume every ounce of food in sight.  seriously the hunger!!!

friday morning i met up with all my girls (tara, maritza and kristin)  for our friday morning recovery run.  kylie and emma got to see their buddy bentley too!  kylie was VERY excited this morning so it seemed as if we were running intervals at times… go go go, tired break, go go go, tired break.  it was a nice morning and the sun was out pretty early so we were able to hop on the trail on our way back.  best way to start a friday!

i am really excited for the weekend and there are a couple fun things going on that i will write alll about :)

 have a great weekend!

As I peer into my future, I see that this is something I will probably end up wanting to get. Not enough mileage on my legs yet, but one day…oh yes, one day…I too will need The Grid :)

I have the Grid too and I take it everywhere. It either lives in my livingroom or the trunk of my car so I'm never without. I've even considered hauling it to the gym with me! :) I recommend it to anyone!

Can you let us know how it stands up to wear and tear? I'm curious as to how durable it is.

I've heard this is a great product, and definitely on the "firm" side. Mayhaps I'll give it whirl one of these days!

I'm pretty awful at using my regular plain old foam roller, so I'm gonna have to be much better at rolling before springing for this one, but thanks for the info on it!!

    Yay morning run crew!
