friday favorites – let there be light!

i bought my first headlamp sometime during my first winter of running.  it’s been fine, and it works, but it definitely isn’t that great.  i went for the cheapest one i could find at the time, and as with most things – you get what you pay for.

every time i run with tara i am always jealous of her headlamp because its SO BRIGHT!  you can see so much better with it and people can see you better as well.  i think in addition to using it so i can see, i use it to shine at cars so they know that i am there.  last weekend i decided it was time to get a new one and since i knew i liked tara’s i got the same one.

princeton tec quad headlamp

i tested it out on my run thursday morning and wow – what a difference!  it’s SO much brighter and it moves in a bunch of different angles.  it’s a bit larger then my old one, which i was nervous about at first, but i didn’t notice it at all.

with the time change just around the corner, i won’t be needing it much for post work runs anymore, but the mornings will be dark again for a while.  so if you are looking for a new headlamp, i definitely recommend this one!

happy friday!

Good to know – I've been thinking of getting a headlamp so I can join the local running groups on one of their infamous trail runs through the forest at night.

I always tell people – invest in the best, you're going to go there anyway once you find out the cheap one isn't really what you wanted. ;)

The best headlamp ever ♥ Glad we all have good headlamps now when we run in the am so we can blind cars with our lights B-) Happy Friday!

We looked like a bright freight train on Thursday with all our lamps!

I ended up getting the Petzl 36 lumns one because it was on sale at Sports Basement and it was pretty close to the same brightness! Yay lamps!

I've seen them in the store, but didn't know anyone who had tried one. Looks much better than my inexpensive Energizer one that I actually bought for a camping trip. Thanks for the tip!

It's so dumb that I never thought that a headlamp would help ME see (in addition to letting people see me). DUH. Thanks for the info!

I finally broke down and bought a Fuel Belt brand headlamp…our group looks like a bunch of miners out running.
    But I do feel safer….

I'm pretty sure if I ran with a headlamp in the city I'd get jumped … or at least hollered at :)

I keep forgetting to put new batteries into my headlamp. I know next winter i will need a better, brighter head lamp! Your new one looks great!

Wow, being from NYC, I can't even imagine having to run with a headlamp. Too funny :)
