so a few months ago i quit the gym which means i have had to find my own creative ways to do my weight workouts and crosstraining. although this has been a struggle sometimes, i have done a decent job of getting in some form of weights on my rest days from running. it is usually hard for when i get into peak marathon training, but i have tried!
sometimes it is hard though, being at home, i get bored of my exercises and have a hard time of thinking of different ones or even remembering the ones i want to do. it’s nice to mix it up sometimes to keep the muscles guessing and to help with the boredom factor. so when i was contacted by NURU to review their exercise anywhere cards i was very excited! it was a perfect thing for me, since i am no longer a gym member and try to get my workouts in “anywhere”.
here is a description of the cards:
NURU’s Exercise Anywhere is for anyone who wants to improve their physique–regardless of whether they have access to a gym. Sized to fit in the palm of your hand, these 30 ultra-thin, waterproof cards provide innovative, “do-anywhere” cardio and muscle-strengthening exercises designed to get your blood pumping. Exercise Anywhere targets every major muscle group, including: arms, legs, chest, back, and abs. Each exercise provides variations for people at different levels. Plus, each deck comes with a unique serial code, providing access to the deck online.
the cards arrived and i was excited to try them out. they have exercises broken up by body parts (chest, lower body, back, shoulders, abs and arms) and even have a sample weekly routine. many of the exercises are my favorite ones i already used and love, and many were new ones! none of their workouts even use real hand weights, but rather incorporate household items like towels and cans, which is awesome for people who don’t have weights at home. but if you do have weights at home you can definitely use them too.
there is a description of each workout, with illustrations, advanced variations, and lots other great information! there is also a section called “cardio lab” that has some routines to get the heart pumping.
so much easier for me then having a bunch of random sheets of paper always laying around the house with my workouts.

oooh! me! I want to win!
That’s really exciting! I’ve almost bought these so many times!
let’s win!
I’ve tried to win those cool cards so many times, lol. Maybe this time I’ll get lucky!
I give you props for quitting the gym…saving $$ and still staying in shape!
I think that would be a great thing to have when traveling so you could still get in your workouts!
They look neat!
count me in too!
I think Kylie is wishing that one to me!
I’ve heard of these cards, they look pretty cool. I like the idea of using household stuff, too

Fun! Count me in!
I have been flaky with xtraining lately. It’s hard when running (and stretching and recovering from running) takes up so much time.
Oooh, I’ve been wanting to try those! Seems like such a neat idea.
Aren’t they adorable? I already won a set from tfh, but I really like them.
i hope i win one! it’s a cute idea!
I linked to you, but encouraged people to NOT enter, because I want a better chance.
If they get the aron and kylie stamp of approval that is good enough for me!
Great week of running! So excited to read about Eugene!!!
yay! it was good to read your review – I have to review them too! : )
Oooh I wanna win. That would sure beat the binder I have filled with different workouts. Geeeez.
cool cards. i always try in theory to do body-weight type stuff since i don’t have a gym membership anymore either but…. sometimes i fail miserably. the cards sound like a good solution for that!
those would be good for the days I don’t want to go to the gym and just want to workout at home!
I love having my new gym membership. I actually go 5 days a week. I really look forward to it. Some “ME” time! These cards are pretty cool though!!!
I have heard of those cards before and really want to try them! I don’t have a gym membership either and need to shake things up a little.
I never do anything besides running. I realize I need to branch out. This could help!
Also linked you in my blog
I think Kylie *hearts* those!
Cool, what a great idea and awesome giveaway!
I just saw these on someone else’s blog and thought that they would be great for my non-gym strength routine (which, other than core work, has been non-existent since quitting the gym!).
Count me in!
Ooh, those sound awesome! Please put my name in the hat, dearest Aron.
i got picked to do the same review. i just got the cards yesterday so i’ll be holding a giveaway in a week or so!
I want to win! Maybe then I will be inspired to do something other than running!
Add me, add me! (I typed that twice because I linked from my blog–clever, huh?)! Yay, thanks for putting this on! I hope I win!
Great! Anything to make crosstraining fun:) Ana-Maria
Those are exactly what I need!
wow! what a super awesome idea. I get so bored with strength training sometimes…it’s definitely be nice to freshen things up!
Sounds fun!
Hi Aron
Before I say anything else, I just want to thank you for being so kind on my blog. It is truly appreciated.
I am really excited for you for Eugene. It looks like all your training has been really good and it will payoff for you with a great time. In terms of training programs, I think they make a great template. I also think that our bodies are so different that we need to do what works best for us.
Great luck to you Aron!
Hahah Pick me! pick me! They sound super cool though!
yes please!
Ooooooh, I would dig those.
Hey those are pretty cool! You know I want in on the action! Whoot!
Oooh! I want some! Sounds like a great thing to have for those in-between days!
I’ve heard about these cards…they sound like they’d be great, especially for some strength building after our marathons!
I’m too cheap to join a gym, so at home stuff would be fantastic.
Linked back, of course!
Great Idea.. I want one… Count me in.
I would love those as I don’t have a gym membership!
I have never heard of these- they sound great. My gym membership is up soon and I decided it needs to be cut from my budget. I honestly love the gym, so it hurts to do this. Economy sucks! These would be great if I won!!! Thanks for running this contest
They look really cool. Toss me in to the hat!
What a fun workout idea. I get bored with lifting too and can never really think of good weights ideas. I’d love to win! Thanks for the giveaway!
Oh, those are cool! They’d be especially great to have when traveling!
I would love to try these!! Especially since a couple of months I also gave-up the gym!
)
When I saw the notecards in the picture I was just thinking ooh I should put all of my workouts on a notecard. This would make it so I don’t have to!
VERY cool!
You know, I just love the pics of your dogs. My pup hates the camera. We think she was abused.
Great doggy!
Oh what a great idea!!
I want to win!
i would love these cards!
i am posting a link right now for my extra entry
Very cool. There looks like a ton of exercises.
Oh my gosh…this is exactly what I need. I don’t have a gym now that I moved. My running is going great but I miss lifting SO much. I’ve been feeling so down about it. I know I can do stuff at home but I feel a little overwhelmed with not knowing what to do, where to start, etc. I could totally use these cards. Thanks for the giveaway!
What a great concept! I just saw that you are down to 10 days until Euegene! I have been following your training and just know you are going to rock it big time! I am so excited for you!
Wow, these are a great idea! I would love to have a set to try!
hooray! these sound cool! i liked when jillian said the deck of card challenge while we were watching the biggest loser. if i had cards i might have tried it!
Those look really neat.
And I got here from Gazelle’s blog, so she’s doing a good job for you!
Oooooo…I could use those since I quit the gym as well! And I will link to my blog…you know, for the 3 people that read it
Loved the picture of Kylie! She looks embarrassed!
They look amazing – maybe just the motivation I need fro some cross training.
You’re link-backed too!
I swing the Kettle Bell when I don’t go to the gym. But always looking for different workouts!
10 days to go….you sound so ready!
Those look so handy, mine are on crumpled pieces of notebook paper all over the house! Nice. Count me in, I’ll throw the contest up on my blog next week!
I would love the opportunity to try these cards.
Melissa
Those cards look handy. Can you give us a sample of what one of the cards say?
Thanks so much for letting me know about the CIM. I will definitely consider this one. Being in Dec, is it still a qualifier? When is the cut off? BTW, Kylie is the cutest dog ever.
Yay a giveaway!
I’m wearing my Oxysox. I’ll let you know how it goes.
Cool! I would love these!
I’ve recently added strength training to my schedule – these cards would be such a help! Thanks for the giveaway!
