between myself and chris we have A LOT of work out clothes and there is a lot of laundry to be done each week. we actually have a separate hamper now specifically for running/workout clothes so i don’t have to go through and separate them. i LOVE my running clothes and want to take care of them since they aren’t cheap, so when i was contacted to review WIN high performance sport detergent i jumped on the chance.
i am always very excited to get the mail, its the first thing i do when i got home, and when there is a box it is even more exciting!
this week there was a ton of laundry to be done (and i do running clothes usually twice a week!) but we still had a full load to be done. the first thing i noticed was the smell of WIN, or the lack there of. i usually just use tide for my laundry so i am used to the mountain spring smell, but as long as the stink gets out of the clothes i don’t really care what they smell like.
one little cap for all these clothes and that was it. i took them out and hung them up to dry like usual, then later i had chris go in to see what he thought.
i guess that’s a good sign right? definitely prefer smelling like nothing to smelling like i have just ran 10 miles in them.

some more info sent to me on WIN:
Most detergents were created in the 1950’s, long before microfiber and daily yoga routines entered the mainstream. These microfiber clothes are great for moisture management and body heat mitigation during a workout, but they also attract bacterial odors which results in a musty odor that traditional detergents have not been able to remove. WIN Detergent is able to properly clean these garments without degrading their perspiration-wicking or water-repellent properties, which is key, as these clothes aren’t cheap.
you can find it online many places or locate a store in your area here. it sells for $6.99 for a 21 ounce bottle. if its going to keep my nice running clothes looking and smelling nice for longer, i would definitely say it’s worth it.

monday was an off day from running, but i did level 2 shred and then did some additional arm weights and abs after. i have to thank jess for posting her lifting workouts on her blog, i have printed them out and started incorporating most of these into my routine now too – thank you jess!
i got an 8 mile run in after work tuesday night. well let me start over, i did get up to go running tuesday morning but when i checked the weather and it said 32* i just didn’t have it in me to get outside. yes i totally WIMPED out. i don’t mind the cold at all, but the cold AND dark just aren’t my favorite combination, especially when i know i can go after work and it will be in the upper 50′s. my legs felt really tight and tired most of the way, but i did run up a giant long hill that i have always kind of avoided, so i was happy for that.
8.0 miles/1:12:54/9:07 avg pace
i got home and did the jess leg workout which i really liked, and then did some more abs. so far so good for this week!
this week i will also have a review on burger‘s movie running for my father so look forward to that! happy wednesday everyone

I was pretty happy with the stuff, especially after running in the clothes again.
I don’t blame you for opting to go after work when it’s upper 50s. I can’t wait for warmth!!
I’ve read so many good reviews on this I guess I will have to try it.
I don’t think I sweat enough to make the investment worthwhile, plus don’t have a lot of nice running clothing to worry about. If I ever run in anything other than cheap shorts and free tech t-shirts I will check this stuff out. Nice running and working out!
I’m always torn between getting my run over with before work, or waiting until after when there’s some light and it’s a little warmer…and I’m a big fan of unscented detergents that actually work.
I may have to check out that detergent.. thanks for the info!
YAY for Win! ;D ;D
this is a great tip. I need to order some of this ASAP.
Glad you’re trying the workouts. Hope they work for you!
Great idea to separate running clothes from regular. Running clothes determine when I need to do laundry, so I should just separate them and do the others less often.
I agree about the cold & dark combo – I hate it too. (of course, to me, 32 degrees sounds like HEAVEN right now! It's all about perspective)
Very nice! One thing that I thought of was that I don’t like separating clothes, and usually don’t have a huge load of running clothes to do which can be a detriment w/ the win! Good job on the run, I agree – cold and dark = yuck!!!
I’m hearing a lot of good stuff about WIN – I think I’ll have to try it out.
Great job on the 8-miler!
I’ve read lots of good reviews on it, maybe I should test it out.
This reminds me I need to so wash!! Great job on the run – It wont stop snowing here!!
I am getting very tempted to buy some special detergent with all these great reviews
Running in the dark and cold= no fun! can’t wait for the sun to come back!
great job on the 8 miles! seems like we’ll all have clean smell-free clothes for a little while at least!
Yay for WIN!! I’ve been using this stuff for a few months now and it really extends the life of my under armour
thanks for posting the link to jess’s workouts. i need to do add some weights to my routine- well, not much of a routine other than running.
I need to get this Shred video..so many of you are doing it!
Wait a minute…. you HANG your workout clothes????
Dang, I wad my clean clothes up and throw in drawer. Then drawer overflows on to the floor.
That’s why i am not comfortable on my sports cloth, it need to be completely clean.
Everyone has been talking about that detergent. I am going to have to try it…
…cleaning products AREN’T supposed to smell…. so this is a good thing!
you guys sure have a log of running/workout clothes! i think win needs to send you a year’s supply for your great review…
Haha, you did need that WIN stuff. Your running clothes collection is INTENSE!
It’s great that stuff works like it’s supposed to!
Awesome! All these reviews of laundry soap makes me want to go out and get some special running clothes stuff. Some of my hubs shirts definitely have a tinge! Mine, smell like roses, JK!
Great job gettin in the run after work. If I save things til later they rarely get done…only in summer when it’s light til 9pm and still warm.
I may have to try Jess’s weights workout. I feel very unmotivated in the weight training department.
I just got some WIN detergent to try out too today! Hope it works as well on our workout clothes. I know for a fact that my husband’s sweaty clothes stink bad and after a couple days fermenting in the washer (he only does laundry every couple days), it’s really ripe. Thanks for your review!
I love all the detergent reviews. I should probably invest in some. Great job with all that running!
I like that detergent, I just wish it was a little cheaper. I may try the ProWash since it is less pricey but my Wal Mart doesn’t carry it. I don’t blame you for waiting on the run, sometimes you just can’t face the dark/cold combo.
Dang girl, you have a ton of running clothes! I won’t tell you how often I wash my stuff, but uh, it’s not twice a week.
) Guess that’s the beauty of cold weather!
I really like the Jess leg workout stuff. Might have to give it a try.
Thanks for your comment Aron – really appreciate it! I know – I fear I might miss more than the recovery runs this week though. WE’ll see. Thank goodness for the cushion…
overall I’m really pleased with it though – it’s definitely stepping things up a notch and I can feel that.
I’ve been looking for some of this type of detergent over here but nothing yet. Shame because regular stuff does knacker your running kit…
Thanks again and have a good day!
Thanks for the review. It’s always good to hear from a “real person” about these products.
Thanks for the review Aron. Everyone has been reviewing detergent except me. Do you think that means my sweat don’t smell chica?
