friday rambles…

busy week!!! work has been crazy this week, i am just coming up for some air from a crazy busy morning.

thanks again everyone – glad you guys didn’t think i was having a temper tantrum :) maybe if you could have seen my face as i was typing or seen the IMs i was sending to my husband it might have better warranted the temper tantrum title. either way, i have stuck to my plan this week and done lots of crosstraining, weight training and no running. i think its been good for me, i am really going to enjoy running when i get back out there (soon!). the foot feels 99.9% back to normal, i am power walking through the office like a crazy person and not feeling a thing – YAY! i have iced it every night and continued stretching too. i am really trying to focus on stretching more this time around.

tuesday i did arm weights and 30 min on the arc trainer. wednesday i helped a friend move furniture out of the soon to be nursery to get ready to make it a nursery, so we skipped the gym that night. thursday i did back weights and 40 min on the bike. its been a good week! we are planning on going after work tonight too… chris and i often joke that our dates are to the gym :) fine with me!

in college i spent A LOT of time at the gym and did A LOT of weight training. i realllly enjoy it, especially the results, and have missed it a lot the passed couple months, so this week was fun to get back into that, and man could i feel it! its another thing i am really going to work on incorporating into training this time around. i slacked quite a bit on the weights towards the end of training for SFM.

last night i stayed up WAY past my bedtime trying to watch the olympics. i love gymnastics and i just wanted to see the girls win!!! i ended up falling asleep just before the balance beam, but i woke up sometime in the night to see that they had taken gold and silver! i did get to see phelps win #6 – he is just insane. everytime i see them win i get all teary… i love the olympics! i am really looking forward to track and field starting and the womens marathon tomorrow!!

its been HOT here this week. in the upper 90s or 100s everyday, so i was happy that the week i was not running was a hot one since its my least favorite running weather.

last night i started reading ultramarathon man and couldn’t put it down. i wont be surprised if i end up finishing it this weekend.

speaking of the ultramarathon man… guess who is going to be hosting a fun run in the east bay next week before his book signing… oh yes you know it – dean! and i am planning on being there… so excited!

hope everyone has FANTASTIC weekends!!! i can’t wait until 5:00… get me out of here!

Glad the foot is almost 100%. I couldn’t make it to the gymnastics. How awesome that they went 1 – 2. I can’t wait to be glued to the t.v. this weekend.

In college I really enjoyed weight training too. But, I have really slacked off for various reasons. Once the gyms on campus open back up, I plan on getting some workouts in during lunch. For me, it really helps with my running.

So glad to hear your foot is feeling better. Maybe it was just a post-marathon glitch.

I have seriously been reading Ultramarathon Man on all my breaks at work. I think I’d have it finished if I didn’t keep getting distracted by hot male swimmers on tv. :)

if there is an upside to not running, i agree it’s being able to devote more time to lifting!!!

I’ve never been able to really enjoy weights like I enjoy running..maybe there is a trick to it that I’m not getting. :)

    Yeah for healing quickly!

Nice job- your patience is paying off. It will be good when you get back to run! Nice work on the lifting – it is good! The book sounds inspiring, I’m going to have to read it!
