st. pats dublin 5k!

chris and i ran our first official “race” on sunday! there were a bunch of us from our TTES training team which was great… it’s so fun to have a group of us there together. you see people you know during the run and at the finish line – just makes for a more exciting and supportive environment.

we had a lot of fun… it was SOOO cold that morning. i had checked the weather and it said 40 degrees but feels like 32 – brrrr. we got there early and got our timing chips for our ankles then walked around and found our team. we warmed up a bit and before you knew it, it was time to start the race! we all lines up and waiting for the shot to go off… it was funny to me because there are so many people standing there waiting, all with hands on their wrists to start their own clock for pacing and timing purposes… it was great. you can totally feel the excitement and adrenaline – i cant imagine how it will be for the marathon! then bang! off we went. i felt really good once i started to warm up and before i knew it i was at the one mile! there was someone calling out times and i couldn’t believe it when he said 8:15 as i crossed the mile – what?!?! yah i guess i was running fast :) then when i came to mile 2 it was 16:25! mile 3 came after a hill and i heard 24:38! i knew then it was time to run as fast as i could to the end since we were only going 3.1 miles… so i reached down and ran… the finish line is sooo cool – just running to the end and hearing the yells and cheers and the beeps from your ankle timer registering…. and my time was 25:53!!! which i am SO happy about. YAY! overall it was really fun and a great experience. i love actually being in a race and passing people and watching everyone else out there running. i can’t wait to do it again!

race stats:
distance: 3.1 miles
time: 25:53
pace: 8:21
overall place: 165/920
age group place: 13/86

i finally took a couple pics…. our very first numbers :)
