our coaches have told us from day one how important it is to eat something soon after running… you have an hour! well if you know me i would never doubt that – someone tells me i have to eat, i am going to eat! so our routine has become after our saturday morning runs chris and i go straight to the deli and get a nice big sando to refuel… the logic behind it is your body has 60 minutes for your to refuel it for the next run. if you don’t get protein and some carbs in there in that time, then your muscles haven’t been restored from what you broke down and aren’t ready the next time the run comes around.
so anyways i was reading up on running and i stumbled on this article on msn that says exactly what they have been telling us and why, and gives tips on what to eat based on what time of day your run is – good article you should check it out i am sure it probably is the same for most workouts not only running, since your body needs to refuel after you have worked it so hard… so all you runners and exercisers out there – don’t forget to eat!!! especially if you want to have a good workout the next time around.
